Why Does My Son Gag On Level 3 Baby Foods?
5 January 2010
He is 11 months old and has two bottom teeth, but he still does not know how to eat it. He throws up almost every time we try to feed him a level 3 jar.

I have a son that was a poor feeder, and we had to go through feeding therapy. The developmental nurse said that stage 3 babyfood should be off the market. Because the texture is mixed, some pureed with some chunks, it confuses babies and can cause babies that are age appropriate to develop feeding issues. I was told to not give it at all, and if I had more kids and they had no problems don’t give it then either.
It’s a different texture that he’s not familiar with yet. To this day there are things that I can’t eat simply because I can’t stand the texture… I had a hard time getting my son to eat the stage 3, and finally I skipped it altogether. He was much happier with a cut up banana, a cracker, cheerios or anything of that nature. So just try other things… look at your plate when your sitting down for supper and offer your son some things off of your plate. If he’s not doing well with the jar food just skip it, he’s old enough to start exploring with table foods now. And don’t worry about the teeth thing. My son only had 2 teeth until he was 17 months old (now) and he could chew anything I gave him, within reason of course.
maybe he is just not ready for that stage yet. if u r concerned u could take him to his doctor and see what they recommend but for the time being i would not give him any more of it if he just throws it up. good luck. hope i helped some. mom of 2 handsome boys and 1 beautiful daughter.
May not be ready yet. Give him time. There’s nothing wrong with the level 2 selection that still provides for his nutritional needs.
my son did this a few times
he really needs to learn how to chew before a year old or it will be harder…
keep trying
try gerber yogurt melts or puffs
preferably puffs
they melt in his mouth so he might like those
well, I gave finger food for my child and I alwys prepared it, I never gave her this type of food that are not fit even for cats.
whats he doing with level 3 or whatever. i never even heard of that give the boy real food he is 11 months that sweet little thing he can eat real poeples food ya know
Try giving him some finger foods so he can feed himself and see if that helps
