When Should Baby Begin Drinking Less Formula / Eating More Baby Food Or Table Foods?
6 January 2010
My son seems to not want the bottle as much anymore – used to drink 8 oz at a time, now will drink only 5-6 on occasion, sometimes will finish an 8 oz bottle. When do babies typically begin dropping off the amount of formula drank? This is my first, so I am new to much of this …
My doctor told me that babies usually start solids at about 4 months. This is with still eating bottles as well. How old is your baby?
Solids shouldn’t be introduced until at least 6 months. Then on from 6-12 months breast milk and/or formula is still their main food source.
Therefore, the amount of milk should still be quite high. Until they reach a year old and then the solid foods can start replacing the liquid feedings.
Keep in mind that the amount he is eating my go up and down with growth spurts. Or if he’s having an off day or a really hungry day.
Thats what my doctor also said to start at 4 months and shehad her six month check up last week and she said at six months they should be eating breakfast lunch and dinner as solids and then if she still hungry and any snacks in between should be bottles.
at 6 months u can stil giving formila altogether and just go with solids. or if he wants give him formula along with solids
