you should wait until your baby is 6 months of age to help avoid food allergies. Baby cereal prepared with formula or breast milk is the suggested first food for infants. They say you should start out feeding them cereal that is more watery at first and then start to thicken it over time.

Well,if you look at the baby food they usually list from about what age to feed them to baby.Keep in mind Gerber has a variety of stages for baby.It dosen't necessarily mean you need to follow it word for word though.6 mos. to start though. My doctor suggest slowly introducing them though, since some babies may be pickier than others.I may also suggest you get some dried fruit snacks for you're baby once she can pick items up.They dissolve in babies mouths.Very safe.Gerber has some as well as Walmart carries they're own brand they also have snacks they carry in a tin that work great too. It's kinda like a cereal that dissolves in babies mouth.Hope this helps..Psss..I started when my baby was 5mos..

Generally you don't start feeding solids until 6 months old and you start with a rice cereal because it is something the baby won't get a reaction to. But with my first he was throwing up a lot and had reflux and so I was told to start him at 4 months and that was what was recommended for babies with refux.

i started feeding my son at 2 mo. I feed him baby cereal for the first month then at 3 mo. I started with regular baby foods. He now is 9 1/2 mo. and eats more table food than his baby food.

they usually start around four months. my daughter didn't get into eating solids until she was 19 weeks old. most babies like bananas at first, mixed with a little bit of single grain rice cereal. every new food you try, can be harmful if your baby is allergic, so try one food, wait a week, and if there are no reactions, keep using that food, and try another, and wait a week...and so on. your baby will tell you when he/she is ready for baby food. if he/she pushes his/her tongue out when you spoon feed, then he or she may not be ready. if you get to the point where you really want your baby to have solids, you can use a feeder bottle. i got mine at walmart, and after 2 days, i tried the spoon again, and my daughter doesn't even need the feeder anymore. she is 5 months, and she's now eating bananas, carrots, peas, green beans, chicken noodle, turkey and rice, squash, applesauce, blueberries, and pears. you may want to wait on sweet potatoes; most babies don't like them. if you want to try it, get a little jar. you may want to do that with all veggies though. luckily, my daughter chooses veggies more than anything. oh, and i have actually tried all of her baby foods, and the one me and my daughter will not touch is peaches....they are really sour. GOOD LUCK!!!

Some say 12 months of age but different cultures do it differently.
My mom gave me stage 1 baby food at 3 days old. She put the food in the bottles with the bags with a little water. The major reason that babies awake so many times during the night is because they are hungry or have gas as a result of the milk and air in the bottle. I've done that for my kids and they all turned out fine. They aren't over or under weight and they slept the entire night, too.
But if you're skeptical, the best way to go is to keep the bottle, and work in baby food a little at a time to gage what the baby likes. If he/she responds then increase as you feel comfortable.
