Usually you can judge this by whether or not your baby has teeth. If your child has a good amount of teeth (especially in the back) then she is probably ready. You should start out with soft, easy to chew foods. Gerber makes some starter foods that are good. They make some kind of cereal puffs that dissolve in the baby’s mouth (my daughter loved them) and they also make the sticks that soften when they are in the babies mouth. You could try her out with some of those and see how she does. Just be sure to watch her with them.
yeah she can…french fries, pasta/noodles, cheerios, cooked carrots, cut up bananas…u get the idea…
Finger feeding is safer than spoon feeding. If baby is ready for solids at all, they can at least attempt to finger feed
Just make sure it is somethign their teeth are ready for.
Yeah, my son’s been eating crackers since he was 6 months old.
I started to give my daughter finger foods when she was like 5 months old…the little Gerber air puffs are very good..they melt in their mouths, so they wont get choked. She is 9 months now and eats just about whatever is on my plate..of course small cut up pieces.
Mine is 10 months old and he started picking up cheerios at 6 months! He really loves to eat, so it’s a great incentive
I often give him bread with butter and liver paste (or just butter), cut up in dices. Also banana pieces and raisins, and I’ll often cut up whatever we’re having for dinner and put on his chair table for him to pick up.
Whether you baby is ready for more solids depends on her. Does she have teeth? Has she mastered the pincer grasp? What type of food is she on now. I know that if she is ready you can give her a mashed up version of virtually anything you are eating (except milk, honey, nuts, and other allergens). Just as before, try things slowly and make sure you know choking safety.
I started my son at 8 1/2 months…so did my sister…its really up to you…
~~that being said I have heard stories of people who waited until their children were like one or older and then their children had problems eating it b/c they could not handle the texture….
