When Did You Give Your Baby Foods Made With Eggs?

I know that current recommendations are to hold off on egg whites until 1 year. I would like to increase the variety of foods that I feed my 8 month old, but a lot of what I make or see is made with egg. Meatloaf, pancakes, french toast, meatballs, potato and spinach cakes. These are all foods that would be perfect finger foods in small chunks, but I fear the egg factor. When did you start feeding your baby foods made with egg?

A:

Maybe it was the sleep deprivation, but I totally forgot about the egg white thing when making my daughter pancakes when she was ~8 months old. So…she technically got eggs early on. She had no reaction, but I realized my mistake but since it was so little and she had no reaction and she was so close to being able to get egg yolks (which will always have trace amounts of egg white in them) I figured it was probably fine. At 9 months I started giving her egg yolk omlettes with spinach in them and she loved it. At 12 months she didn’t take well to whole egg omlettes and still now at 14 months prefers the yolks. Go figure. I think if you have no allergies to eggs in your family history you’d be safe just substituting egg yolks into a recipie that calls for them like muffins or pancakes or meatballs. I know, I was thinking the same thing the other day…were it not for eggs, she wouldn’t have half the finger foods she does!

My daughter is 11 months old and I have been giving her eggs for a couple of months now. There is no food allergies is my family and I had no worries about it. She now loves to eat scrambled eggs and cheese.
The little bit of eggs that is in the stuff you mention is not going to hurt him unless he has a severe allergy to egg.
Recent studies have shown that there is no use in waiting until a year. I will look for a link and post it for you.

A:   For an egg, peanuts, chocolate, I stuck with the one year old or older issue. Talked to my doctor about other foods and he said it is fine to introduce foods with this in it at nine months old as long as the possible allergies foods are not a main source in the food item. Like peanut butter crackers, scrambled eggs or a plain m & m are all no no’s. French toast, chocolate cake, and other foods at the age of 9 months I started to give him and you should have seen the faces mixed from, what the heck are you feeding me lady to hmmm that’s good! I remember and envy you the experience. GL!!!

A:   6 months.
Do you have a family history of allergies?
In the foods you mentioned, the tiny bit of egg that he’ll get by eating in, say a pancake (out of a whole batch with 1-2 eggs) isn’t going to make a difference unless there’s a severe allergy present. And that’s not really something you should worry about unless you have a family history of allergies.
I have a very mild allergy (I break out in hives if I eat too many) to eggs and I feed my son all of those things…I just hold off on giving him straight egg whites. He has done just fine
Why did I get thumbed down?
A:   My mother-in-law has allergies so I was wondering whether should I try egg .But my hubby ask me to introduce egg so I started with pancake since her 9month .She had no prob in her 10month i started giving her whole egg.

A:   We are holding off on introducing eggs alone until my twins are 1 but we have fed them foods that have a bit of egg in it from 9 months on – foods such as pancakes, meatloaf, waffles etc . .
