My cat is nearly 3 years old ( in November) and she gets lonely and bored alot of times when I’m busy and can’t play or pet her. She doesn’t like marbles or balls, she grew out of them, and I want to make her her own toy she could play with on her own and have fun. I can’t buy any toys because my parents won’t take me but I really want to make her something special so she won’t be bored and lonely.
But she’s afraid of almost everything so it can’t be that big.

Mine go crazy over the plastic rings off milk jugs. Paper bags and boxes are tops at our house too!

what i hear is that you can take a ball of cotton and tie a string that is at least 1′-2′ long and drag the cotton on the floor. trust me, i did it with my cat and ripped the cotton to pieces!!!!

Cats tend to be so fickle, that it’s usually best to NOT put that much effort into it! Try out a few things to see what grabs her attention:
- Dangle a shoelace or string
- Attach a bell (or something with a little noise) to a stick
- Try a bow used for gift wrapping
- Toss her the cap of bottled water/milk
- My cats love to carry around hair binders
- Make a ball out of gift wrapping paper (so it crinkles)
- Blow bubbles near her
- Any flash light or small laser light can provide hours of entertainment

Use a cat food can, wash it out and punch a hole through it. you might want to sand the edges so your cat doesn’t get sratched and insert a thick string and on the end of the string put little bells on or things the make noise so she could play around with tht

Have you got a piece of string? String is one of the most common cat toys. They think its a mouse’s tail and pounce on it. You need to slowly drag the string around a corner, and your cat may come bounding after it.

All the cats I’ve had or met (friends’ cats) have loved the simple stuff:
~grocery bags (paper and plastic), though you want to keep an eye on them with the plastic bags. The more noise it makes, the better (from my 2am experiences lol).
~toilet paper rolls or paper towel rolls – they will be amused.
~a box with one open end (they’ll climb it, scratch it, sit on it, sleep in it)
~My favourite – get a flashlight, turn it on, and watch the cat chase the light on the floor. They love this.
~A small catnip toy is okay, though my cats have gotten bored with it easily.
~Pens, little balls to chase, and random little objects your cat finds amusing (you never know)
~Also, if they’re not supposed to touch or play with something, they’ll find amusement with it (such is the nature of cats).

Drop a ball into the toe of a tube sock and tie a knot down near the ball. Hang the top of the sock from a chair rung or other place just above the floor. She will bat it for hours. You can liven it up by decorating the sock first with markers or non-toxic paint.
Make her a step stool out of different sized boxes stacked on top of each other and glued together. She will enjoy climbing up and jumping off. You may also cut a hole in the bottom box to make her a ’secret hide out’. Make the hole twice as tall as she is and glue a strip of fringe over the top of the door made out of an old handkerchief which you have cut into strips about half way up all along one side. She will ’swish’ the fringe when she goes in and out the door and it will tickle her and make her jump and play.

Plastic milk rings and bottle caps are a hit over here. Also paper bags and cardboard boxes of any size. I know you said she doesn’t like balls, but have you tried crumpling a piece of aluminum foil into a ball and tossing it across a tile/wood floor? I’ve never met a cat who didn’t love a foil ball. One of my cats also like empty toilet paper rolls–she likes to reach her arm through them and swat them around. Another thing that some of my cats go crazy over: beads. Like the fake pearl necklaces or mardi-gras beads; one will chase them around and carry them in her mouth. Personally, I don’t think there’s ever any reason to buy cat toys because everything is a toy to a cat! Good luck!
NOTE: If you do give her a piece of string or anything with strign on it, please watch her while she’s playing with it! Some cats like to eat string and it can cause major internal problems, not to mention an expensive vet trip.

You can make a cat toy by sewing a feather to a piece of elastic or string and hanging it from a doorknob or chair. My cats love it. If you can sew, you could also make something like a small pillow and put a bell on it, or fill it with plastic bag shreddings or something else crinkly. It’s fairly simple, cheap, and keeps ‘em entertained.
bottle caps make very good toys, or shoe strings, and tassles, hang a string in a doorway… make her a fort out of an old box.. kind of like a dog house..
