Question: What ae the chances of a baby having blue, green, or bown eyes?
My aunt and uncle are having a baby and they wan t to know what colors her eyes would be. The mom of the child has brown eyes. The moms parents have brown and green eyes. the dad of the baby has green eyes. And both of his parents have green eyes. (green and blue eyes run through his family)
My aunt mostly wants to know what color they baby’s eyes will be!

Brown eyes are dominant and green eyes are recessive. If both sides of the family, carry green eye alleles, the baby stands a greater chance of having green eyes. Probably 1/2 green, and 1/2 brown. They might come out hazel because brown and green make hazel.

Brown is a dominant eye color, so even if there are green and blue genes, brown takes over.
The baby will most likely have brown eyes, but Idk what the gene combos are for the ‘rents, so I can’t do it right off the top of my head with Punnett Squares.

well by using a simple punnet square that helps determine genetics,
the equation goes like this:
B_ = dominant (therefore Bb or BB would have brown eyes)
bb= recessive (therefore green or blue eyes)
Since green is actually not an eye colour one can only say that the child would have recessive eye colour which would most likely pick up green pigmentation due to the genetic buildup of the father and mother.
So anyways the punnet square goes as follows:
B | b
b|Bb | bb
b|Bb | bb
Therefore the child actually has a 50/50 chance of recieving recessive or dominant genes but the child if born with brown eyes will carry both the dominant and the recissive gene and may be able to pass on recessive eye colour to his or her child.
Anyways after all is said and done… 50/50 chance of blue/green or brown eyes.

She won’t know for sure until the baby is about 2 years old. Iris pigment does not fully finish growing until then.
A green eyed parent and a brown eyed parent can have children with green, hazel, light brown, or brown eyes. If the brown eyed parent actually has hazel or light brown eyes, not brown eyes, there is a small chance for blue eyed children.
Although the punnet square diagram is a good idea, eye colour is determined by three genes and their interactions, so a simple square doesn’t suffice.
