Question–: Toddler food menu?
I’m trying to get some healthy ideas for feeding my two year old daughter. I’m not much of a cook and it seems all the “convienent” kid-friendly foods in the supermarket are so unhealthy (big suprise). I find myself feeding her a lot of the same things. I know she must be bored with her lunches. Just wondering if anyone knows some simple recipes that will give her some variety and are a little more nutritious.

I know what you mean. We’ve tried some egg casseroles and had luck, and put things in there like red peppers. We’re also finding whole wheat or veggie noodles work, and pizza with whole wheat crust and turkey meatballs – they also like the turkey meatballs plain. We were also pleasantly suprised they liked creamed spinach – while fatty – at least they’re eating the spinach. Our kids dont like much other meat, but do really like seafood, especially shrimp. Now to get them to try salmon – may try to find a recipe with something sweet on it.
Also look for things like real maple syrup and yogurt – without the high fructose sugar.

My daughter loves EVERYTHING. I spend a lot of money on the vitamin loaded foods, and “Pediasure” drinks for her in between meals, and before bed. I’ve noticed that after giving her this change of diet, her energy level has gone 500% up, and she’s become more active on learning abilities as well. When it comes to babys, you really do get what you pay for. I am lucky to have a more than decent job that allows me to spend more money on the expensive food, but that doesn’t mean the bagged vegitables are any less healthy. Stick to the basics as much as you can. give her things like peas on a plate, cut carrots, and other small things. If you want to only feed her cooked meals, make sure they are low on grease, and sugars. They should get enough natural sugars from all foods, and the grease isn’t good for their bodies. fixing food for my 14 month is probably my favorite thing to do on my days off. I just hope she doesn’t get too spoiled hehe.

remember the show zoom that we all used to watch as kids??? go to zoom.pbs.org and click on cafe zoom i have found excellent recipes for my kids on there and they are heathy and extremly easy.

You could lower the salt, the oil and the sugar in everything you normally eat provided you eat balanced meals

Take the jars from the gerber, food process to a mush and label those meals and stick em in the fridge thell keep for a few dayS with no preservative.

Add the seasoning to your own meals while on your plate versus in the pan or whatever. You can mush your own apple banna combination, steamed yams, potatoes, fish mush, beef mush, whatever you want to mush……CREAM OF WHEAT
THIS CAN GIVE HER A LOT OF VARIETY AND A LOT MORE NUTRITION

toddler menu–: can you help me make a menu for a toddler?
my 2yr old son is a picky eater. he weighs only 10kls… & i aways have a hard time feeding him… he stil wants to be breastfed specially when he is sleepy… help pls..

Well,what food so far does he like? I’d build on that. Since he’s two,he can feed himself pretty well by now. I’d try finger foods, and bite size,small enough to go on a little fork. If he has texture issues with meat. I’d stick to beans and legumes for the majority of his protein intake. I’d try pasta with cheese. Veggies with cheese. Fruit with yogurt.

i would take him off the breast and start giving him formula. to make sure he is getting enough of what he needs. you should feed him breakfast in the morning, some lunch in the day and dinner at night, a bottle when he wakes up and a bottle when he sleeps.

I would def try finger foods.Why not take him with you when you are getting the food and let him help prepare it, it will help introduce him to new things and make the experience fun instead of a chore.
Aslong as he is getting a lil bit of everything from the main food groups he will be fine.
Try carrot sticks with peanut butter dip/fruit salad(grapes,apple,melon)mini sausages/sandwiches with your choice if filling cut into different shapes. As for main meals,if getting him 2 eat his veg is a struggle,cook some up,blend it and add it to gravy to go with your choice of meat,he will never know.Buy him a fancy new cup or get some crazy straws to help encourage him to drink different things.
Its all about making meal times fun,so let him join in.Ive also found that if I eat with my son(21 months old)he tends to eat better aswell.
Before bed,try giving him some milk in a cup,and he will soon realise that this is the new routine.

My son is a fairly picky eater. Granted he is a very odd picky eater as the things he eats vs the tings he doesn’t eat just seem a bit backwards. However here are some of his favorites:

Cheese + Crackers + Lunch Meat (Turkey, Chicken, Ham, etc.)
Fruit (anything soft goes . . Kiwi, Strawberries, Apple Slices, Oranges, Peaches, Avocado, etc.)
Yogurt
Apple Sauce
Cheerio’s (cereal)
Pasta + Tomato Sauce of sorts
Pasta + Cheese
Toast
Veggies (cook up all sorts of veggies . .sometimes melting a cheese on them makes them more interesting – my son wont eat broccoli or cauliflower unless it has cheese on it)

These are just some examples of things both my son and daughter eat (18months and 3yrs)

if you are stll breastfeeding then he is getting what he needs… do not switch to formula or a bottle… forgo the bottle….. get him to snack on healthy stuff during the day, cereal bars are great cause they are sweet and have loads of vitamins in them….

I do agree that you need to get him off of the breast!!! Maybe you could try pumping and putting the breast milk in a sippy cup to give him when he is sleepy that way he is getting the nutrients he needs. I make a lot of foods with pasta in them for my little one. I have tried cooking beef, chicken, and pork in different ways until I found a way that she will eat them and that is the only way I figured out what she will eat. Good luck!

Don’t mean to judge but shouldn’t he be on whole milk instead of breast milk. For breakfast try oatmeal, cereal, pancakes, waffles, french toast, eggs, toast, bananas, yogurt, sausage. For lunch try nuggets, mac n cheese, spaghetti o’s, hot dogs, fruit cups, apple sauce, crackers, bologna, ham, cheese, jelly sandwiches, pizza bits, fish sticks, fries. For dinner feed him what you are having.
