Two and three year olds want to be helpers. They can help match socks and fill the cat’s food dish. They can pick up towels and put them in the laundry. Think of easy jobs that someone their size can do with supervision.

Answer by DeniseG
finger paint
paste things onto paper

There’s not a whole lot they ahve the coordination to do yet. You can do basic artwork but keep changing the themes. LIke spring, summer, fall, etc. Or holidays. Or animals.

You can have them do “show and tell” – bring something from home.

A whole heck of a lot. colors, shapes begining phonics and math, various art projects, simple science, computer design. This age is the foundation for everything else so pretty much anything an adult can do, you can start in a simpler, more basic version.

I showed my daughter how to pat and at the same time I would say gentle, gentle. She is pretty good with animals now.

Tell Him That Kitty Will Hurt If You Pull Its Tail ..Or Keep The Cats Away From Him .

Answer by cpinatsi
1. Don’t ever consider de-clawing the cats, apart from being inhumane, they will start biting your son, and it is much worse and far more dangerous.
2. You have to explain to your son that the kittens hurt when he does something wrong, and thus they hurt him. Anyway, I think the kittens themselves will learn to avoid your son when they are old enough, or give him some real trouble, so that he leaves them alone. Until that happens, your sone will be 3 years old and much more able to learn how to handle the cats.
3. Just make sure they are not left together unsupervised!

Answer by Rick Harley
Keep the cats! They will be less costly (You’ll never hear a cat say “Mom Billy’s got a ***+++*** and I need one too”) and a lot less trouble when they get older. But if you decide to keep both ;-) try getting angry sounding with you son – saying NO! is going to get an effect sometime and if that doesn’t help Whack him real hard with a stick! It worked in Dickens times ;-) OK now I’m only joking right! But a few gentle taps on the finger will show him you’re serious. If that doesn’t help, then time will!

Say if u hit the kitties they will bite you to bits if they get very angry!!!!!!

Answer by anissia
that is so cute take lots of pictures!!! kids are so playful at that age, If the kid dont mind getting scratched let him be . my son used to do that until the cat got fed up and actually bit him. then he stopped.

my son just tugged one of my cats off the window ledge i cat think of anything to do to stop him some times he is wonderful with them other times a nightmare this morning he has been a nightmare but that could be because its easter and we had chocolate for breakfast lol!

Answer by Linda C
First you should clip the kittens’ claws. Then you need to discipline your son. At two years old he can understand simple rules and with love and repetition he will obey. He needs to be taught that the cats have feelings, too, and it hurts them when he pulls their tails. Show him how to pick up the kittens and if he can’t perform these simple tasks, he needs to be kept from the kittens. Teaching children respect for pets is very important and will help to teach him respect for other people as well.

I know you’re probably very busy and two year-olds can be a real challenge, but it might be wise to keep a closer eye on them for awhile so you can intervene and repeat the rules. This will go a long way to help him understand the word “NO”.

Welp, when my 5 year old started being to rough with the cat – I used the cat’s spray bottle to squirt the 5 year old every time she did it. She quit for good later that day ,,,=^.^=,,,

I then tried this odd new parenting method of discpline out on the eleven year old who refused to clean her bedroom… her room hasn’t been a dump since.

Saddly, the cat still jumps on the counter tops though, no matter how much I squirt it. At least the typical “squirt the cat with a water bottle and it will stop” method works, just only for kids – not cats. Who knew ?

Mrs. B

P.S. This may or may not be simply a humorous answer with no merits for reality. That or I find it fun to watch the girls scream in laughter and actually listen to ‘mom’ when ‘mom’ goes for the cat’s squirt bottle out of desperation. *winks*

P.P.S. Never squirt any living being in the face, ear, or up the nose. That’s just wrong, and dangerous. Cold water works best.

you need to yell at your kid and teach him how to properly handle animals.

  1. take your sons shoes and socks off then you stand with your shoes on right on his toes see how he likes that ,bet he doesn’t tell him that’s what it feels like to the poor cat when the boy pulls his tail if this doesn’t work get rid of the child ( only 1/2 joking) but the child must stop being cruel, it is not funny.

  2. olympics junkie

Spray bottles work with cats, they would work with kids as well. Just keep aspray bottle handy (nothing but water!) & set the spray to gentle. You want to get the child’s attention, not harm him..When he gets a bit rough, warn him, then spray if he doesn’t back off. If you are consistent, it won’t take long..
