The North Platte Telegraph For Joe Sherwood, superintendent of McPherson County Schools, having 44 percent of the school’s students proficient in math and 60 percent proficient in reading wasn’t good enough – so, last year, he made some changes. As a result proficiency increased 26 percent in math and four percent in reading.
