!!about infant diet tips :It’s very easy to get sucked into the constant advertising of baby powders, creams, and lotions. But the best baby lotion is plain old olive oil—cheap, natural, and un-perfumed. As for other products, keep it as natural, organic, and fragrance-free as possible.
Question–: When can I introduce goat’s milk into an infant’s diet?
I have an 8 month old son and am considering introducing goats milk into his diet as a way of slowly weening him off breastfeeding. I am returning to work and have found pumping difficult and I am highly against using formulas (needless chemicals, not to mention he won’t like the taste). I am wondering if goats milk (pasturized and whole) has the same age requirements/suggestion as cows milk does for introducing once the infant is at least one year of age. Anyone with any information or who has used goats milk, please leave your suggestions. :-) Thanks!
I can’t help but wonder who funds all the studies that show infants “need” formula (if not breastfed) until one year of age. What did all the babies have before there was such an abundance of formulas? Personally I think that if your baby does not react to the goats milk, or cows milk (whicheveryou choose to try out) and you’re ensuring that the infant is getting all the propper nutritional needs, then why not use organic milks rather than chemical-rich formulas?…just my two cents.

Q&A–: When do mexicans generally introduce solid foods to babies?
Sounds like a weird question, but my baby and i will be staying with a mexican family for the summer (including an abuela) starting when she is 5.5 months. I might start solid food around then, but i am definitely not rushing it. I know older people often think I should have started her on solids a while ago… I was just wondering what to expect, if they are going to think i am strange for not starting my baby on solid food til 6 or so months or if that is recommended in Mexico as well. And if there are other cultural stuff around feeding babies.
when to start food is definately cultural, as some cultures, particularly in africa, dont start solids til closer to a year. And the US just 40 years ago peditatritions said to wait til at least 6 weeks…way too young… I guess i am just nervous about tension cause everyone thinks they know how you should raise you child and everyone has advice. After living in mexico a couple years before, i learned that grandmas always know best, but when it comes to my baby, i do, and I dont think I could let go of that. And sometimes Im just not good at disagreeing with people without offending them, at least this is my experience in Mexico. I was raised to be starightforward and blunt and its hard for me to act differently.

infant diet–: When did you first introduce whole milk to your infants diet?
Just wondering when other mothers had introduced whole milk to their infants diet, I’ve read from 9-12 months but most strongly suggest not earlier than 12 months. Are there any bad side effects that anyone has experienced personally for introducing whole milk around 10 months? (Baby is 10 months old and thinking of introducing whole milk in place of infant formula)

P.S. Anything from the American Pediatric Association would be helpful.
