When Can I Start Feeding My Baby Solid Foods?
6 months is the recommended age.
As you see by the first posters information, she started her baby too early and it caused health problems for her little one.
At 6 months and when you notice these signs:
Baby will be ready when they lose the tongue thrust reflex.
When they can sit up and keep their body and head supported by themselves in a highchair.
When they show an interest in what you are eating.
Start baby on just a little bit of food, just a teaspoon or two so that her body isn’t filled up all of a sudden with food- it will take a little time for her body to get used to it. Slowly, you can increase the amount.
Always try each new food separately so you can check for allergies.
Pureeing food and freezing it into ice cube trays is a great way to have a supply of food for baby, it takes just minutes to defrost and ice cube size is great for little ones just starting out.
What Age Did You Start Feeding Your Baby Finger Foods? And What?
I started my son on diced veggies…like cooked carrots and peas, little pieces of cooked potatoe things like that. at about 9 months up until then he really did seem interested he started baby food at 7 months. and still nursed frequently.
Gerber makes the diced veggies tht are really soft adn just the right size for little fingers… but you can make the same at home just be sure they are fall apart tender befreo you give them to your little one and don’t add salt. there is no need.
he also liked Cheerio’s and gold fish crackers but that was a little closer to 10-11 months.
one last tip …there are these little things that you put food in it looks like a rattle , or toy but the end is mesh, you put the food ( that would be otherwise unsafe for your baby to try to eat) and let then suck and bite at it. my son loved that thing and I felt safe knowing he wouldn’t choke on something. but it does look a bit gross after a few minutes of biting on it ![]()
it also doubles nicely as a teething ring( or a way to get liquid in them when they are sick) with a piece of ice , or pieces of crushed ice in it.
When Did You Stop Feeding Your Baby Jar Foods?
At almost 9 months, my daughter is eating table foods along with jar foods. I was wondering when I can stop the jar foods. They help me to supplement in some fruits and veggies. My family doesn’t eat as healthy as we should so I buy baby foods that are healthy for my daughter. If I buy more fruits and veggies I can prepare, can I stop buying baby foods?
How Old Was Your Baby When You Started Feeding Him Or Her Table Foods?
My daughter is 8 months and I am giving her stage 2 foods. When she turns 9 months, i will begin stage 3 foods. One friend has been giving her son table foods (chicken nuggets, fries, macaroni and cheese, etc) since he was about 7 months…. He had no teeth then. I think it is way too early to start table foods until the baby has more teeth and at least 1 year old. Am I wrong and should be starting table foods with my 8 month old?
