Q&A–: Why don’t we teach financial literacy in high schools(US)?
I had the experience of going to both a private school and a public school. I went to a private school from the 3rd-9th grade, I went to a public school from K-2, 10-12th Grades. In the 6th-8th grade in the private school, they taught us how to balance a check book, to write a check, to look out for loan sharks and etc. In my public high school, they did not teach anything about financial literacy. They were more worried about if you could run 10 miles without sweating.
In other countries, they teach their children at a very age about financial literacy. We are not talking about sex ed, we are talking about teaching children how to manage money.
