Question–: Whats the big deal about making your own baby food?
This is not a slam on jarred baby food or mothers that use it, but why is it women think “making your own baby food” is so hard and complicated. I seriously don’t get it. I have seen all sorts of kits to make baby food as well as recipes and it seriously cracks me up.
My son never ate jarred food, he just ate what we ate that he was able to handle and chew up, and that was that, I never found it to be an inconvenience of any sort as I prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day anyway. I never even thought of it as “making my own baby food,” I just thought of it as preparing meals and feeding my family. It was easy enough to slightly adjust our menu to better accommodate our baby if need be, and by that I mean adding an extra veggie or two that I knew he enjoyed, or adding a few less jalapenos to the chili as he doesn’t care for flaming hot foods as muc as my husband and I do/

So anyway, question is, why do women seem to get soo stressed out at the thought of making there own baby food. Do you think its gerber marketing that persuades them to think that baby food is some magical thing that could only be created in a factory, or do you think it is brainwashing from our pediatricians and there guidelines as to what to offer and when, whats your opinion on it?

(I am prepared already for the fact that I am sure this question is going to seriously piss some people off, so bring it…lol, but seriously, I am just curious as to what you take on it is?)
Cali, I hope this didn’t offend you in anyway. You’re doing a great job hun! I bet you hardly have time to eat a meal yourself. Keep up the good work!
Happy to be her mommy,
I am not saying there is anything wrong with jarred food, nor am I bashing any one who uses it.
I have just seen a lot of mother so confused and stressed about how to make there own baby food. I was wondering as to why mothers who are wanting to make there own find it to seem so overwhelming.
What factors may play a role in why women feel that it is so difficult.
If you would have read my very first sentence of my question, it clearly stated that I was not criticizing how you feed your child!

As far as my answer to that last question you are referring to, that women deserved the answer she recieved, as she treats other people with very little respect.

There are clearly very many women who feed there baby jarred food that where able to answer my question civily without becoming offended, because they realize that what I was asking was not a slam on them by any means. And I truely believe what I said to her.
I think no less of other mothers for how they feed their child. No where in my question do I state that!

Question–: I have a question about my 22 month old son.?
I made a mistake only feeding my son puree foods. So now I have been trying really hard to teach him to chew foods. For the longest time he would not chew, he would just swallow the food. I kept showing him and teaching him and he just would not get it. But 2 days ago he has started to eat the toddler finger foods that melt in your mouth. He has been feeding himself it and eating it. Now I think this is the first step for him to eat foods… right? I am not sure if he is chewing the food but he is eating it. Do you think that he still needs help or now will he just need time to learn how to chew better?

Q&A–: I am about to send my autistic son to a special preschool and I am a nervous wreck?
My son is about to turn three in April. He will begin a state funded preschool at that time. He will be going to a public Elemantary school for 5 days a week for 6 hours a day. I am apprehensive about this because he is uncomfortable around people he doesn’t know and has never been away from me and his dad. I worry about the teacher he will get and whether she will understand his needs. My son has feeding issues and still relies on milk as his primary source of nutrition and I worry that she will take his bottle away. The tough love approach is ineffective on him. I worry that he will have contact with the regular students who are not in the program. He cannot communicate with me to tell me if someone is mistreating him. Does anyone have any experience with this type of program? How did your kids do? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Response to ” Honesty given Here”………… If I want him to get help, he has to go. Home based therapies are extremely costly at a price of 30,000 to 80,000 a year or more depending on which type you go with. I am nuturing and working with him at home as well, but he needs professional help such as speech therapy and occupational therapy and I am not equipped to teaach him. Also, he is not as low functioning as you may think. He makes eye contact and interacts on some levels and is extremely afferctionate and capable of forming bonds with people once he gets to know them. He has poor communication skills when compared to typical children, but he does use limited gestures and has a little speech capability. He mostly echoes, but there are a few words he uses in proper context, such as bye bye and thank you. He is actually quite intelligent and this seems the best way to tap into his full potential. We love him and want him to do well in life. Staying home is not the answer.

literacy teacher|a question for elementary school principals or teachers about your school’s literacy program?

14 January 2012

!!Health tips :D on’t let your own anxiety affect your baby’s growing need for independence
Question–: a question for elementary school principals or teachers about your school’s literacy program?
Hello, I am taking a grad class concerning reading strategies for exceptional children. I need to interview a principal(or teacher) about their literacy program. I teach on the high school level and to be honest we don’t teach reading. Students should be reading by the time they reach us and those who don’t are usually in special education. So I wanted to get the view point from an elementary school perspective. If you could answer the following questions I would be much indebted to you.

1. How does your literacy program meet the needs of all students?

2. What components are in place for preventing reading and writing difficulty?

3. What support is there for intervening and accelerating the progress of students who struggle with reading and writing?

If you could give me you last name(I will use Mr/Ms “last name”)and the school and state or city where you locate it would be great.
