Question–: What does your baby eat all day? (8 – 10 month olds)?
My son is ten months old, and right now he just eats sporadically, and whatever I have on hand, as long as it’s healthy. I really want to get him more on a schedule of eating, and make sure that he is eating everything he needs to in order to be healthy. Can you give me your schedule with your baby? Or maybe a website or book that could outline this for me? (Right now I have the book Super Baby Food, and I hate it)

my son gets up around 8 and gets a 8 oz bottle then about 3 1/2 hrs later gets a jar stage 2 fruit with cereal and a 5oz bottle…his next feeding is just formula and then he gets another stage 2 babyfood and a 5oz for dinner then a night bottle….through the day he also snacks on puffs, cheerios, pudding and whatever fruit i eat.We are going to start snacking on some noodles too.

My son is 9 and a half months(he’ll be 10 months on the 4th of next month). Here is his eating schedule:

8:30-10 AM: Wake up with 7 oz. bottle and yogurt
11:00 AM: 5 oz. bottle(am thinking of introducing lunch at this time too)
2:30 PM: 5 oz. bottle
5:30 PM: 5 oz. bottle and he self feeds dinner(veggies, fruit, meat, cheese, pasta, etc.)
7:30 PM: 5 oz. bottle and snack before bed. He then goes to bed around 8:30 PM

This link has sample schedules that I found slightly helpful:

My son is 8 months and was only eating sporadically as well. I decided he should have a little more structure, for his sake and mine. I have recently put him on a “schedule” where he gets three “meals” a day. By meals, I mean opportunities to eat food other than breast milk. My personal opinion is that babies are really just learning about food – what it is, how to chew, how to get it into their mouth and swallow it without gagging. They really get all the actual nutrition they need from breastmilk and formula for their first year. Some argue babies of this age need extra iron, but that is arguable. If you choose to believe they do, just make sure he gets some fortified cereal or a dark green veggie once a day. During mealtimes, I sit with him and eat too. He sees me eating and wants to try eating too. If I’m eating something safe for him, I let him try a little. If he wants more, I give it until he’s not interested.
I am a little bit of a clean freak, and when my son started grabbing the cereal spoon out of my hand and flinging it everywhere I decided it was time for a mesh feeder. He likes that and it’s a little cleaner. He also really likes cut up strips of bagels that I leave out to get really hard and dry. He likes to gnaw on those until mushy and swallow some. So right now, his “meal schedule” is a breakfast lunch and dinner where I offer a bagel stick and a fruit or veggie in a mesh feeder. I also give him a sippy cup with water and encourage him to drink from it (sometimes I get another sippy cup and drink from it myself so he can watch me, LOL). Anyway, this has been working well for us so far. Watch your baby and his responses, he’ll tell you what he needs and wants.

This is a great resource! nttp://www.babyzone.com/baby/nutrition-chart.pdf

My daughter (10.5 months) has a 6 oz. bottle when she wakes at 6:45, fruit and oatmeal for breakfast @ 8:30, cheerios or puffs for a snack around 10, another 6 oz. bottle around 11-12, nap, lunch around noon-1–usually more fruit or a baby yogurt, perhaps some toast with it, more cheerios/puffs around 2:30, 6 oz. bottle when daddy gets home @ 3:30-4, cat nap, dinner between 6-7, usually 2 veggies and some kind of meat, 8 oz. bottle before bed around 8:30-9:30.

My 7 month old son’s schedule is such, 7a.m. breast – 9 a.m. solid breakfast – 10 breast and nap – 12(noon) solid – 1:30 or 2 p.m. breast and nap – 4:30 or 5 p.m. breast – 6 p.m. solid – 7:30 bath – 8 p.m. snack if watched. 8:30 breast and bed. Sometimes these times vary, but for the most part he sticks to this schedule. He, at times, takes a third nap. He still wakes up once or twice for a night time feeding, which I hope stops soon so I can get a full night sleep lol.

lol, Jack Jack kneads me in the morning – on my chest! And he spent plenty of time with his mum [the only kit I have that did, actually!] ~ When we finally brought him home, he didn’t knead at all – but learned it from the other kitties! Kneading is just a part of kittiness.. all of mine knead – and often on my bare skin :)

Ninja is precious! My friend had a kitty that would knead her hair all night long – he loved her to pieces! Every morning she’d have this huge ball of tangle :) )

  3. They are so sharp – I clip with a nail clipper. You can feed weaned kittens dry food, but if they’re young you should moisten it with a little water.
