toddler meal ideas–: Meal ideas for toddler?
My son is 17 months old and I am having a hard time coming up with meal ideas. I am a stay-at-home mom so I make all his meals, but I also have a 4 month old baby so I do not have a lot of time.

My son cannot use a spoon yet but does NOT like someone feeding him with a spoon so we mostly feed him finger foods. But I am running out of ideas!

I feel like all we are ever feeding him is chicken (in various forms), grilled cheese and fish sticks. I’d like other ideas so that he is eating various foods.

There are plenty of fresh fruits and cooked veggies he can eat as finger foods. Cut up banana, cantaloupe, honeydew, watermelon, cooked carrots, beans, etc. I used to give my daughter scrambled eggs for dinner sometimes, with a veggie and fruit. Another thing they can eat with their hands if necessary. Also things like cut up hot dogs or plain pasta (spirals/rotini is one of my faves).

He can eat what you eat. Meat. Veggies. Fruit. Pasta. Sandwiches. Fish. Rice. Potatoes.

Make meals for yourself, and give him some.

-pasta with meatball and sauce (a little)
-pizza (occasionally 1/2 a slice is enough with other sides)

served with rice and a veggie, or potato and a veggie
some veggie favs i see are:
-carrots, string beans, asparagus, peas, broccoli, zucchini

DESSERT:
-ice cream (i prefer peach or strawberry or vanilla flavors)
-frozen yogurt
-100% juice no sugar added ice pops
-fruit
-carrot cake

try to limit juice to one or two cups a day, one milk in the morning and once at night, at least 4 or 5 cups of water.
make sure your juice is 100% juice.
*Mott’s make a juice called Mott s for Tots which is watered down 100% juice with vitamins, comes in several flavors, i only buy that.*
make sure no foods have fake sugar like sucralose or aspartame.
make sure any prepared foods u buy, like mac n cheese doesn’t have more than 400 mg of sodium per serving.
make sure no foods contain too much sodium per serving or high fructose corn syrup!

All three of my kids have liked frozen peas, corn, and carrots with their lunch. I run them under water to slightly defrost and that is it. It makes a great finger food.

I frequently cut lunch meats or bologna into fourths, cheese into fourths, add crackers and fruit and call it homemade “lunchables”. This seems to work really well for the finger food aged child. There are lots of varieties of cheese, crackers, meat, and fruit I can put in the lunch so I can make it pretty varied from day to day. My LO even likes tuna salad on saltines sometimes. You can also cut bread into fourths instead of crackers.
