Q&A–: strollers…?
I’m still learning about strollers but I would really like to get a convertible stroller because they seem like they would be versatile in growing with the child. However, the strollers that fit the carseats seem like the way to go when still an infant – I don’t want to have to buy 2 strollers. Can someone give me advice on what to get or what you’ll get the most use out of? Any help would be appreciated since I’m just learning about all this gear :) Thanks!
Will travel systems do the sit-up/lay-down option? That’s the part I’m interested in for the convertible…. Any recommendations?

I had a travel system. The one that will carry the infant stroller – to a toddler stroller. Now that my kids are older Its a bit bulky so i still ended up getting different strollers. I have an “umbrella” stroller (newer version w/ baskets), the travel system (was great till about 2), and a jogging stroller.

You can get the best of both worlds with a travel system or the kind that fits the carseat. I had a Graco travel system and I used it from the day my daughter was born still until she was about 2 years old. When she was an infant I left her in the carseat and locked the carseat into the stroller, as she got to big for that carseat I just put her in the stroller, when she got too big to reide in the stroller with the tray I took it off. I also invested in an umbrella stroller (around at Wal-Mart) for when I was in a hurry and she was big enough that she could walk or ride. I would definately reccomend getting a travel system!!! Good luck!

I got a Graco Quatro Tour travel system. It came with the infant carrier and a car seat base. The carrier attached to the stroller and then when baby was big enough I was able to get a normal car seat for him and use the stroller as a standard stroller.

Edit:

My graco will lay down completely flat for baby to get a comfy nap while we were out and about. There are 4 or 5 different positions that it was able to adjust to. The best bet is to go to a store and look at the floor model. If there is a Babies R Us near you, go there… they will have a large selection and you can push them around to see how comfortable they are for you too… I have heard of some strollers being uncomfortable for parents who may be very short or tall.

I have a Graco Quattro Tour. I love it except for the fact that it weighs a ton. Our apartment is on the second floor and there is no elevator so I have trouble getting up and down the stairs. I have a Combi I-Thru stroller. It’s super light and the seat is reversible. The ride isn’t as smooth as the Graco and the basket is small, but I find it more convenient when I am by myself and don’t have my boyfriend to carry the stroller up and down stairs. Check out the user reviews on Babies R Us and Target. They’ll give you a pretty good picture of how convenient the stroller is.

Hi,

We decided to get a Bumbleride Flyer, which can fit an infant seat too. There are many nice strollers that are not part of travel systems, but they come with adapters that fit the more popular infant seats (Graco Snugride, Peg Perego, etc).

With that approach, when you’re done using the infant seat, you’re left with a high-quality stroller that you can continue to use and love.

Here’s a great guide about car seats and strollers that was really helpful to us… nttp://www.peppyparents.com/servlet/Page?template=Car%20Seats%20and%20Strollers

Congratulations and good luck!

I’m looking for a great stroller. Any suggestions? I was thinking about the Quinny – Buzz Three Wheel Stroller nttp://www.strollers.com/Quinny-QNY-BZPK-QUY1035.html or the Bumbleride – Queen B Stroller nttp://www.strollers.com/Bumbleride-Q-2007R-BV1093.html. What stroller do you have? Also what carseat do you suggest?

Thanks!

I would get a stroller car seat combo this saves money and you can place car seat right in stroller and never wake baby up.

I have a jeep stroller and I love it, it was 100 dollars. Graco is the infant carseat I used. thanks for the website. I just found out I am preggers with number 2 and my daughter will be 1 on the 24th so I have been looking for duo strollers.

I have the Graco Safe Seat. It has a higher weight limit than the Snug Ride so you can get more use out of it, and has a button you can push that slackens the arm straps so you don’t have to fight with baby’s arms to get them in and out. All you do is slacken the straps, buckle baby in, then pull on a strap by the baby’s feet, and tighten it up! SOOOO easy. I have friends who have to literally wrench their babies arms to get them into carriers that do not have this option. I also have the Graco Quattro Tour Deluxe stroller. I like that it has a collapsable basket underneath and that it lies flat so you could lay a newborn in it if you wanted to. The Safe Seat locks into the stroller for infants so you don’t have to handle and disturb them too much when they are little, and that is a major bonus! It had easy one hand folding, whick is also another major bonus. The only downside to the stroller is it is slightly larger and wider than some other strollers, and that makes it harder to get used to steering.

The Quinny one is cool- I like that you can put the baby facing you or out front. My only issues with it: the seat looks like it wouldn’t hold up to 40 lbs, but I could be wrong…and the other is that it doesn’t have a very big basket at the bottom. I like that my Graco has a basket at the bottom large enough for my purse, her bottle, diapers and some packages.

I would try to find a store locally that has this model so you could look at it first before you buy it and have to set it up yourself.

I couldn’t pull the other one up :(

As far as carseats go..I also went with a Graco…it was great for a newborn. When my daughter hit the 1 year and 20 lbs I switched to a Britax that she can use until she is 60 lbs. Its a wonderful car seat! You can use it at newborn size too, but I liked that I could carry the seat around outside of the car until she got too heavy!

Look into the Phil and Ted’s stroller, especially if you’re planning on more than one child close together. There’s a second seat option that is removable. My husband actually chose that one, because it’s the only one he thought was high enough quality to last through two kids and could hold both kids if needed. Plus it does fold flat for a newborn (or newborn and toddler at the same time) or can hold 2 toddlers. There isn’t much storage space, but it can be used for jogging as well, and the big tires are a life saver. Plus there is an adapter so you can put a carseat into it (it’s just a little support bar and strap) and we used the graco snugride with no problem. I would recommend AGAINST the Evenflo discovery carseat, as we started with that (hand me down from my sister in law) and my son HATED it, and since he’s in his carseat for 2 hours every day I figured I should at least get him one he likes.

I have a graco and it was GREAT and now I have the graco quattro tour double stroller and it is AWESOME!! Everything I could ask for! Worth the $!

Both of the strollers you are looking into are very cute! That being said, I used the Graco Deluxe travel systems with all 3 of my children. When you buy the system you get 2 in 1 and save some money. The system comes with the infant car seat carrier and deluxe stroller. The carrier can go straight from the car and snap into the stroller for easy movement of sleeping babies! These strollers are extremely durable and have some cute fabric choices. It also has a few recline settings and folds closed with using only one hand! The car seat is great for newborn until about 3 to maybe 6 months and the stroller can be used for years!! Here is the web site for the travel system… nttp://www.gracobaby.com/products/subcategory.asp?N=400+10417+505&act=A20 .

As for a car seat…I LOVE the Britax Marathon. I researched car seats a great deal before deciding on this one, and I am completely satisfied with my choice. It is one of the highest rated car seats out there and it was hard to find complaints! The seat is rear and forward facing, with a rear facing recline option. The weight limit is 65lbs so the car seat will last until there is no longer a need for one. This seat also has MANY fabric choices…you do not have to decide on just one…you can always buy a different one and change it up! Also…putting the car seat in the car is a breeze! It is a little expensive but well worth the price!! Here is the site for the car seat… nttp://www.britaxusa.com/products/product_detail.aspx?ID=5 . And if you go here… nttp://store.britaxusa.net/shopping/parts.aspx … and search by catagory “marathon parts and covers”, then you can see the different fabric options. (fyi….you don’t have to buy the seat and cover seperately…you can buy the seat with the cover you want!!!) For more car seat cover choices search google….there are a lot from different seasons and such, so there are more choices!!

Hope this helps. Good luck!!
