Apples and cheese are always a big hit. They taste so well together.

But that is not a fun name.

Ants on a log? (raisins, pb and celery)

How about a “Walking Salad”? You just add pieces of lettuce, broccoli and cauliflower(or other favorite veggies!) in a baggie and the child munches on it on-the-go.

Or make it a “Walking Fruit Salad” and add, strawberries and apple slices(dip apple slices in lemon juice first)

My kids loved this idea when they were small.

We also made necklaces with dental floss, cheerios, little pretzel twists and whatever other item we were able to thread on the string. It was fun working on these necklaces and kept them busy for a long time. I just made sure I kept close by when they were munching on them to be sure they were safe with the floss.

Carrot coins–were pan cooked sliced carrots with a sprinkle of cinnamon. Cook in a little butter.

Broccoli–my kids always called them little trees. They always wanted little trees.

They also loved baby corn that comes in cans but we just called it baby corn.

Spread a flour tortilla with peanut butter, add a peeled whole banana and roll it up. Think of a name…banana in a blanket, maybe?

Orange slices–sliced crossways into circles like wagon wheels can be called wagon wheels. Be sure you wash the oranges first.

You probably wouldn’t use this idea nowadays(can’t believe I just said nowadays!! Yikes) but my kids liked when I cut a cucumber into spears–they called them swords and fought with them before they ate them.

Have fun, I love those kinds of projects!

apple moons (thinly sliced)
avocado boats (a quarter of an avocado)
banana wheels
broccoli trees (steamed broccoli florets)
carrot swords (cooked and thinly sliced)
cheese building blocks
egg canoes (hard- boiled egg wedges)
little O’s (o-shaped cereal)

Apple Smile

Here’s what you will need to make it:

apple

peanut butter

mini-marshmallows

toothpicks

Here’s what you have to do:

1. Make sure you wash the apple.

2. Cut the apple into two wedges and spread peanut butter on them.

3. Put mini-marshmallows along the peanut butter like a row of teeth

4. Using toothpicks, put the two slices together like a mouth. Now you have an Apple Smile!

Bugsy

Here’s what you will need to make it:

1 peeled banana

short, thin pretzel sticks

fruity cereal O’s

raisins

Here’s what you have to do:

1. To start, put some fruity cereal O’s onto a pretzel stick. You need to pick the ones with big holes in the middle. This will be Bugsy’s tail.

2. Now put fruity cereal O’s onto the ends of two pretzel sticks. These will be Bugsy’s antennae.

3. Next break two pretzel sticks in half. These will be Bugsy’s legs.

4. Now you’re ready to put him together.

5. First put two raisins on one end of your banana.

6. Push Bugsy’s antennae into the banana, right above his eyes.

7. Now push Bugsy’s tail into the other end of the banana.

8. Next, stick the pretzel halves into the bottom of the banana, two in the back and two in the front. You want to stick them pretty close together so he can stand up.

9. There you have it, your very own Bugsy. He’s almost too cute to eat!

Butterfly Bites

Here’s what you will need to make it:

cream cheese

celery sticks

knot pretzels

pretzel pieces for antennae

knife

Here’s what you have to do:

1. Spread cream cheese on a celery stick. That’s the butterfly’s body.

2. Then put one knot pretzel on each side of the celery for the wings.

3. Use pieces of a pretzel for antennae.

4. And there’s your butterfly bite!
