I have a wonderful recipe for a cake that uses Gerber baby food plums…can’t find them anymore and don’t really know how to improvise with real plums…it is a delicious cake and a favorite of my group of friends.

Yes, It’s stage one introduction food for babies…they usually eat it around 4 months so it defiantly is always on the shelf for the those mommies who can’t wait to feed their babies solids( myself included 
) I buy mine on post ( Don’t know if you are military but that is where I have seen it) You can also try Target, they have a HUGE selection of baby food, Also you can try Walmart….Don’t be afraid to use store brand…I’m sure it taste the same in the long run

Q&A–: baby food substitute?
I’m going to be making a cake that calls for 2 jars plum baby food. I can’t not find this flavor baby food. The last time I made the cake, I purchased canned plums and smashed them. Do you think this is sufficient?

That’s fine, that’s all that plum baby food is anyways, it is just finely blended to be smooth.

Try blending them for a smoother mixture but that should work especially if you add a small amount of liquid such as a apple or pear juice which is often found in the baby food.
You could also try some plum preserves found in the jelly/jam section of your grocer. These are pure plum and already mashed for ya. =)
