i don’t think it really matters cuz your going to be washing clothes alot while they are younger. just by some cuz they grow out of them fast. my son had just like a pair of clothes for everyday of the week plus a night grown. i was every weekend

you can go to stores like ross and they have things for less … if you buy all the clothes your TWO kids will need in the first year it will be about

my advice to you is to go to garage sales, newborns outgrow their clothing so fast even after it is used they are still like new. You can get sleepers from .50 to .00 more than likely you will go through 4 to 5 outfits a day per child when the babies are born. I dont know how often you plan on washing

i know this, believe it or not babies grow quite rapidly up to 6 months old. so i would suggest buying a few pairs. make sure they are loose but not big as you do not want your child to look like he’s drowning in a pool of yarn. hehe. good luck picking out the clothes. have fun!

Well…I have 9 year old twins, so maybe I can help a little bit.
Babies grow VERY fast. And, depending on the time of year you can get away with less.
I would start with onesies (about 10 of them in each size–10 total not 10 for each) and then get about 2 “outfits” per child to put them in when you leave the house. If it is summer time, you can get away with the onesies because it won’t be as cold.
I would invest in some light weight blankets because you can double those as bibs while they eat. (get about 6 of those)
You will be doing laundry often, but when I had my twins we didn’t have a lot of money to spend on clothes that my girls would outgrow in the matter of weeks.
I would concentrate on the sale racks (Target is the best I think) and have people buy clothes that are bigger than your children are, because they will grow very fast, and most often you won’t have a chance to put them in the clothes before they outgrow them.

Do not buy alot of clothes in the beginning. Babies will outgrow them within atleast 3 weeks, so it’s a waste of money and washing (there’ll be plenty of that, no matter how much clothes you buy).

They will grow so fast, that you will probably spend more money on their cloth every month, that you imagine. A good this is to have other people give it to you on the baby shower and tell them exactly what, so you will not have a lot of stuff, that you are not able to use. Usually it is 6 pieces of underwear (whatever you want to use two or one piece), 2 or 3 pyjamas and 4-6 for day wear. You only would have to change them, when they poo all over themselves or vomit. If they do not do this, they always smell great, so no need to change unless dirty (or because you want them to look different every day) They will grow out of the smallest cloth in about 1 month. It actually really depends on how much money you want to spend…. you can also sell the cloth later for other twin moms or give them to charity.

I would suggest having enough outfits to get you through 3 days in case you get behind in laundry. For each day (and this is being on the safe side since changing outfits can happen frequently!) per child I would reccomend:
*2 pairs of pjs
*4 onsies
*4 outfits
Total for 3 days: 12 pairs of pj’s, 24 onsies and 24 outfits
This will probably get you through more than 3 days but just so you don’t have to worry about doing laundry since you will clearly have your hands tied up! Also keep in mind that people will probably give you lots of clothes so when you’re buying just get the basics and then build up from there. Also since it it going to be spring/summer soon you won’t need to worry about layering and coats and all that until later. When my girls were born we dressed them in onsies and foot one piece outfits to start. Old Navy, Gap and Target are great places to begin!

Honestly, it depends on the baby. Some are messier eaters, some poo and pee out of their diapers more often than others, and it depends on how often you want to do laundry. I would suggest an average of 8-10 gowns/sleepers and 3-5 “cute” outfits per baby to begin with and go from there.

I had to laugh at this question…I always wondered the same!
Now my twins are 21 months old and mostly I find rocks from the park that inadvertently get put in there (they still don’t know how to use them!)

I put tissues in my kids pockets.
Just about anything that will help me clean up a small mess, but won’t harm the child if he grabs it.
I also put his binkie in it…he is slowly learning how to grab it when he wants it, and is able to get it out.
On older children i would put a penny in, and put it in the piggy bank later. Kind of teaches them to save money.

Haha I wondered the same thing – there were pockets on ALL of his pants and overall suits. Now that he’s 7 months, he likes to grab at the flappy part of the pockets on a few of his favorite pants. I guess at this point, at least they are some entertainment if nothing else?

haha, me and my husband were just talking about this earlier!
He was like ‘what would a baby put in here? All of her clothes have little pockets!’
My daughters pants were kinda loose, baggy looking..
So my husband kinda pulled them down an inch so her diapie was showing, and said she has her mini gat in her pocket, ‘give me the boobie or else’ it was funny at the time. x_x
My husband also said, she is going to sneak Cheerios in there from the store, since we don’t eat processed food.

I am actually buying clothes for one we are expecting as well, our 5th. I am not due until May when it will be alot warmer where I live so I bought 14 sleepers(7 warmer for air conditioned places 7 thinner for when it’s just a little chilly), 7 gowns, and 48 onesies. I also got a package of the tee shirts that don’t snap in the crotch for before the belly button falls off. I bought 18 pairs of socks, and 5 hats. The hats actually came with some sleepers I ordered. For the most part, I know the baby will be wearing mostly onesies, unless it’s a little chillier or we are in the air conditioning. I got so many onesies because all of my children have been super poopers and I don’t expect this one to be any different lol. I would recommend buying as much as you can off of eBay. I got 36 onesies with 3 sleepers for twenty bucks and they are all new without tags. I also got the rest of the sleepers, the gowns, hats and 8 receiving blankets for about 35 bucks, new condition. When I went to babies r us I got 6 onesies, 3 tee shirts, and a pack of socks for 35 dollars. I will also be combing any yard sales I can until the baby comes for other stuff. As others have said the babies are in stuff for such a short amount of time they really don’t have time to ruin anything. Everything I got except 12 of the onesies are 0-3 months because I expect the baby to be between 8 and 9 lbs like my others. The other 12 onesies are 3-6 months because I know how fast he’s gonna be over 12 lbs. I would recommend you get newborn or preemie clothes, as I know that doctors consider 5 lbs to be an average to above average twin depending on the doctor. My own twin brothers were about 4 1/2 lbs each at birth and the doctors thought they were just a fantastic size, but that was over 20 years ago and babies have been steadily getting born bigger. I also would definitely recommend you stock up on diapers. Mine all have gone through a 40 ct bag per week in the first few months, but I’m sure you’ve heard that a million times lol. Good luck.
