Steam veggies or hard fruits and then puree or mash it yourself, or start with soft fruits and puree or mash raw. Some things you can use a potato masher or fork for, others you need a blender for. You can make a bunch and freeze it for later use in an ice cube tray. Yes you can use mild seasonings, nothing allerginic though.

But – you don’t have to go through all that, you can just give pieces off your dinner plate, mashed with a fork or if the baby is ready give small pieces whole. Peeled soft fruits are often ok to give whole too, with careful supervision, take it away when he wittles it down to the point he could get the whole thing in his mouth. My son ate mashed things from our food from 5.5 months to 6.5 months then ate things whole, self fed with his fingers.

put normal food in a food processer like bananascan be one, or make your own apple sauce.

Just blend whatever your using, like green peas, get low-sodium! and add a tad bit of sugar! :] I do it, and she loves it!

no seasoning. Just a blender and your regular fruits and vegetables. No sugar is needed! (i’m a dentist) They are just empty calories. Remember this is for your baby and not for you. Your child’s palate is not the same!

there are multiple homemade baby food books.

if you can afford it, go for the organic fruits and vegetables.

Basically you cook (steam or boil, as appropriate) fruits or veggies or meats (bananas don’t have to be cooked), and puree/mash them. (Depending on baby’s age and development.)
To start out with I wouldn’t use seasonings, but once baby starts to transition to soft table foods (cut up or lightly mashed) — which will probably be around 7-9 months, you can offer him whatever foods you are eating, with whatever seasonings are in them.

How old is he? Maybe its that he has to get use to it? It can take 1-2 weeks for them to get use to one thing. I would start on the stage 1 veggies…1 at a time…then after a few indroduce some fruits. Its a gradual thing..getting them to eat them. Chances are hes just not use to them yet. He will get use to them though.
Or if your really wanting to try it. They have baby food grider like machines everywhere. I would check ebay.
And also you can google how to make baby food. And you should find lots of information

How old is your baby? The most likely reason a baby would never accept grocery store baby food is they are not ready to eat it. Their taste buds aren’t very developed so they really don’t need seasoning.

Things like salt make babies fat and unhealthy. It sets them up for a lifetime of high salt intake. Same with sugar.

As for making your own baby food… soft fruits/veggies just get pureed, hard ones get boiled or steamed till soft, then pureed. Very simple. You can get a hand grinder and just put whatever your family is eating for that meal through the grinder.

  1. I bought a Magic Bullet Blender, but a regular one would work, too. Don’t use any seasoning at all. Just steam veggies, let them cool, stick them in the blender, and puree them. You can make them chunky or thin based on baby’s preference. Remember it takes 60 times of trying foods to establish a true like or dislike of it.

Do a google search for homemade baby food and you’ll get tons of ideas. Once you make the foods, spoon them into ice cube trays, freeze them and pop them into ziploc bags. That way, you can pull out a cube or two at a time and let them thaw.

  2. buy fresh fruit and veggies and you can crush them in a smoothie maker no seasoning for delicate baby stomachs than then feed away, if your baby is old enough to eat on their own they can use this thing it looks like a big pacifier, you fill it with homemade food and there is a mesh netting around it so baby doesn’t eat any big pieces, you can get it at target.

  3. There is a book called “Feed Me! I’m Yours” by Vicki Lansky

It’s an older book, but it’s awesome. It tells you what to feed your baby, how to make it, freeze it, and then thaw it for feeding. They give recipes and they are all wonderful and nutritious.

  4. my babies don’t like the bought baby food either. I just puree in the blender what ever we are eating, less the meat if they are to young or get a can of veggies or unsweetened fruit and puree it. my babies love sweet potatoes, applesauce ,peaches, pears , chicken noodle soup – and don’t like mashed potatoes.

  5. my little brother used to eat porridge. my mom used to boil rice until it’s like really really soft and add veggies and maybe dice some meat really2 small so that it’ll get really2 soft when boiled. and it depends on if ur baby has teeth or not. if he has teeth then bigger chunks of meat should be ok (i’m sure u know this). but yeah, my mom did add some seasoning, because babies do like some taste too… just add some salt and pepper, not too much tho… just to taste…

  6. Get yourself a small food processor. I always made my own baby food. Just buy small cans of vegetables and fruit and grind them to a baby food consistency. Of course, it is always best to use fresh ingredients whenever possible. You might have to deal with woody vegetables or pulp in fruits though. That is why I always used canned. These are way more flavorful than baby food, so if you want to use regular baby food it might be hard to get them to go back to it.

  7. easiest thing to do is buy a baby food “grinder.” they are cheap, easy to find, and make anything into baby food. literally, you just grind anything you are eating – as long as it is a “safe” food for his age.
