Question: How do I get my kids to play with their toys?

If I have to estimate my kids have at least 300 toys. They have big bulky toys and they have small toys and a bunch of toys in between. I plan to do a garage sale to get rid of some. Will having less toys get them to play with the ones they already have?

I admit we did by them a back yard swimming pool today. They have a computer in their room, and a portable dvd player. My kids get new toys on a regular basis and then our neighbors old toys.

How did you get your child to play with their toys? They are 4 and 2 years of age.

lol ma sister has millions of toys that she dont use
shes 7, id like to say they’ll grow out of it but ma sister aint lol
just threaten to sell it at the garage sale if they dont play with it, theyll play with the toys the wanna keep an get rid of the rest

Try to store part of the toys and rotate the toys out quarterly or something. A friend of mine does this and her little boy is always so happy to have “new” toys.

take 90% of them away and put them in the garage. they have far too many things, and are getting confused with all the choices, so thay choose nothing.

if they get bored with one toy remove it and replace it with another

I find that my 2 year old plays more with his toys when I do two things. One, get rid of other forms of entertainment. Once watching a movie, sitting with Mommy on the computer, and helping clean the house aren’t an option to keep him entertained, his toys are so much more exciting. The second thing is when I can shift his toys a bit. He has a lot of toys, too, and having them all available just is overwhelming. I leave out enough for him to have a lot of choices and be creative, but not enough that he’s just buried in toys.

A good idea is to put the majority of the toys away(in the attic, or garage, etc). Every few months take out some of the toys you stored away, and put away the ones that have remained out of storage. The kids will see these as new toys, and a renewed interest in playing with them will emerge.

duct tape them to their hands. LOL

Pack them away for a while and they will enjoy seeing them again.
