Question–: Does anyone have an Avent Naturally Express Bottle and Baby Food Warmer?
I just bought a Avent Naturally Express Bottle and Baby Food Warmer at a garage sale. It didn’t come with directions, and the person who sold it to me didn’t know anything about it. I think I’m supposed to put water in it, but I am unsure and don’t want to ruin it by finding out. How do I work this thing?

Here’s a picture off the web of it: nttp://www.babyuniverse.com/bigPicWindow.asp?filename=59%2Fwin59%2D5323%2Ejpg

Yes put water in it. I got one as a gift and used it this past winter to warm up water to use on my newborns bottom instead of wipes. It worked great for that! But it might take too long for to heat up a bottle for a hungry baby. To warm bottles, I always placed the bottle in a empty coffee cup and ran hot water over it. (We also had our water heater turned up so the water would get hot fast.) Good luck!

don’t use it….just breastfeed.

Answer by ayannaholloway
Yes you do put water in it. You should keep water in it at all times. If you don’t, it can possibly burn out.

baby food warmer–: Baby food warmer????
So I know they have the Bottle/Food warmers but with those you have to put the whole baby food jar in there right? What if your baby won’t eat a whole jar?? My mom said she had a sectional plate type thing that you plug into the wall and thats how baby food warmers were back then. I can’t find one of those anywhere. Anyone know where I can find a baby food warmer where you don’t have to warm the whole jar?? (I don’t really want to get a used one from Ebay) Thanks!
I have heard to try and avoid using the microwave due to hot spots. I don’t want to burn my baby’s mouth!
I was just thinking about how I will be refridgerating the baby food after it is opened. Wouldn’t it take longer than 10 seconds to heat that?

Answer by Tracey Seth
Ah jeez….just nuke the sucker!

EDIT-Yeah…pesky hot spots….I just STIR it together really good to get rid of hot spots.

Answer by Zizzer Zazzer Zuzz
Why not just give it to her room temperature?

As long as you stir it after you heat it up, you should be able to get rid of hot spots, AND you shouldn’t be heating it up to steaming, just to get it a little warmer.

Answer by Elouise
You’re only microwaving the food for less than 10 seconds. Then you just stir the food and test it to make sure it’s not hot.

EDIT: My daughter eats about 1/2 a jar of baby food per meal. I pour it in a micro-safe bowl and microwave it for 10 seconds. It comes out at room-temperature. If you want it warmer than that, then you’d leave it in for an additional 5 seconds.

the hot spot think it a bunch of crap… trust me all I use is a microwave to heat the babies food… after you warm it up MIX it really well to distribute the heat… I usually warm up half a jar in a bowl (micro safe) for about 15 seconds on half power (check your microwave to see if you can change the power level) I didn’t even know mine had that capability until 4 months ago.. LOL… but it warms it perfectly then i just mix it up test a small bit on my back of my hand or wrist to be sure it is warm enough (never to make sure it is is it not too hot because it is NEVER HOT) and we are ready to go… using a warm is sooo much more time consuming… use the microwave and spend more time with your little one… that’s what I do!

Yes, I warm the refridgerated portions same half the power but I use about 18 seconds to heat it and test then if need be I put it back in for another 5 seconds…

Still quicker than the warmiing plate!

This is the only thing I’ve seen that’s not the electric one where you put in the whole jar: nttp://www.amazon.com/Sassy-Baby-Warming-Multiple-Colors/dp/B0000630MB/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_k2a_3_img?pf_rd_p=304485601&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-2&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000056OUF&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1085P4MJXKHQDQ9QTC03

I just spoon out what I need into a bowl then place the bowl in a shallow dish of scalding hot tap water and it gets warm in a few seconds. We don’t own a microwave.

It takes only 10 seconds (or less) to heat a very cold jar of baby food straight out of the microwave, in response to your most recent added details.

I’ve found bottle/baby food warmers to be quiet useless; it’s much easier to just mix your bottle on the spot and it won’t hurt your baby to eat cold baby food. My daughter has had no problem with it straight from the fridge, when we have to store it in there for a second feeding later on.

But if you insist, there is no jar warmer specifically designed to warm only half or a part of the jar. What you’d need to do to get around that is to spoon as much baby food as you think he’d eat into a shot glass and warm that. Now, the timing might be different, since most warmers are programed to warm a normal serving of baby food, but that’s something you’ll have to figure out through trial and error.

I’ve always just heated it up in the microwave, if u just put it in there for 10 secs, it’ll warm it up enough, and maybe another 5 secs or so if it’s been in the refrigerator.
And if u just stir it up then there won’t be any hot spots in it.
I’ve done this with my son since i first started giving him baby food at 6 months old, and i’ve never had a prob with hot spots.
As long as ur careful the mircowave works just fine, and then that way u don’t hafta spend the extra money on a warmer that u won’t use for that long.
Hope this helps and good luck, :D .

Sweetie, microwaves are much safer and easier to use than you think when it comes to baby food. You heat it slowly, 10 seconds here and there until you get the temp you are after and of course you don’t nuke it and then feed baby, you ALWAYS test first before giving it to baby. You constantly stir it after heating it to disperse the heat evenly. I have done this with all my kids and I have not burned them. If anything they now burn themselves of food straight from the stove and onto their plates because they are too impatient to wait for it to cool!! Sweetie, save yourself time and money, use the microwave, it is perfectly safe. It’s not like you are putting the food in there for 2 mins, god there wouldn’t be anything left if you did that, like I said 5-10 seconds at a time. The other invention and I don’t know if they are still available is a bowl that you can fill with hot water and put baby’s food in that, only as much as baby will eat. Takes a heap longer to warm the food though but like I said, not sure if you can still get them, microwaves probably put them out of business. You could try Target for something like that. Good luck though sweetie, I’d still go for the microwave though, mums have way too much to do in a day than waiting for food to slowly heat and babies want it NOW not in 10mins!!
