I am always looking for new and effective ways to get my children to behave. So I grabbed a couple of voodoo dolls at Marie Laveau’s House of Voodoo. They came with a money back guarantee and seemed like a real bargain at just .99 each. I decided to use my new disciplinary tools sparingly. For minor misbehavior there was a quick stick with a pin. For something really bad, I would set the foot on fire. After a week my kids were no better behaved and all that was left of the voodoo dolls was two tiny piles of ashes. The ashes were swept into an envelope and mailed to Mrs. Laveau with my respectful request for a refund. I dropped the letter off at the post office on my way to the lumber store to buy wood for a paddle.

Have 10-15 minutes every day for a relax time. Just sit or lie down and focus on breathing. It always calms me down so I can be a more patient mom.

Pick your battles. Select what is most important to you and be consistent about it.
I was driving myself absolutely nuts trying to get them to keep their rooms tidy. Then I stepped back and saw that it was causing ME more stress than need be. So, I just closed their doors and stopped being a nag. It was absolutely liberating. In time, they learn ed for themselves that if they wanted to play with something, they needed to keep all the toy parts together in the plastic bins I provided for them. I almost fell over when I saw they kept their rooms tidy all by themselves.
One thing I NEVER wavered on was: No food outside of the kitchen. You would be amazed how clean my furniture, my wood floors and my area rugs still are.

Every month my kids and I have a fun day…We’ll go to the zoo, theatre, movies, Chuck-E-Cheese’s, carnival, etc. Then once a week we have a movie night or game night at home. Everyday we eat at the table for dinner. It teaches the kids the importance fo family time. I also won’t give a kid a cell phone unless they’re driving and that’s to be used if the car’s in trouble. They can have a cell if the have a job and they have restrictions on it like not taking it to school and no texting feature allowed.

I was all ready to charge in with my camera when I stopped and read the sign on the side of the door. There was an entire wall of voodoo dolls for sale.

So glad you ignored the "no photos" sign. I can only assume you were wearing shoes and a shirt, so maybe that made up for it.
Great find for a shot and a really funny story. Not many flickrites can hold our interest for over 2 lines in this busy time, but you always can.

Seeing just the thumbnail my first thought was that it’s daddy changeing the diaper. But now I see this is a "please fasten seatbelt"-sign.
My first thought was something like this:
"Honey, do you know where the official baby-throwing-away can is?"
"Yes, I think it’s over by that sign."
