My D3S Has Finally Arrived!
After borrowing one from www.stuckincustoms.com/links/BorrowLenses, my shipment finally arrived from sweet lady B&H. This is now the backup camera to my D3X, and if you want to know the reasons why I got it (and why it’s my backup), visit my Nkion D3S Review page. In fact, I already popped my new 85mm prime lens on there… so more pics coming soon for the Nikon 85mm Review.

I’ll be packing it up for the upcoming trip to New Zealand. Thanks for all the comments on that page, btw – I am going to be following up on that stuff soon, in addition to setting up a photowalk in Christchurch to compete with the one in Auckland! These are free events, so all my internet Kiwi friends are welcome to attend!

This makes you think twice about the three-point baby harness in your 4000 lb SUV, doesn’t it? Actually, I remember growing up in the 70’s and sliding around the backseat vinyl of an old Caddy, swinging ponderously around roads of Texas. Now, it seems to take me an extra 10 minutes to get everyone strapped in, like we are on final entry into the atmosphere!

A bunch of people on a motorbike (or stuffed into a car) is not an uncommon site in India, or dozens of other countries around the world. It’s always a bit hard to capture. I don’t like using a flash, because I don’t want to startle the poor driver.

The most people on a motorbike I have seen is six — and I’ve seen that multiple times in India and all over Southeast Asia. Often times, the young kids are smashing between the parents or older siblings. I haven’t seen seven people on board yet, but I hold out hope.

Q&A–: Can my friend get a Green Card if his parents are here without one?
My friend is 17 and going to be 18 in october does he qualify [or already have] for a green card even if his parents and no other family members have one? If so what is the best way to go about doing this?

He moved from Brazil about 6-7 years ago and has been living here without a green card. He wants to stay here before his parents leave to Brazil but he can’t without a green card. Please help.

The following is the answer: (Hint: The correct answer provided by the users, does not guarantee the right.)

Answer by Lori J
well there is too many things you have left out of the question for me to say for sure. Does he havea valid passport? Did he come here legally on a visa? Does he still have a Visa? If he does have a valid Visa. need to know much more.

Answer by Phil
if I read this correctly they are all here illegally?

If so, absent he marries a US citizen, he has to go back, there is no way for him to qualify for a green card. Well, if he’s a mathematical genius or an international quality competitor at sports or arts….

Green cards can be had two basic ways. A close relation of a citizen or green card holder can be petitioned by that person and depending on the details quickly or after many years obtain a green card. Or you can find an employer who will make an offer to sponsor for a green card if he has a truly shortage and important skill.

That’s it.

Answer by MadMan
Are his parents in the US on a work visa, such as an H-1B? If not, they, and their son, are in the US illegally. If yes, then he is in the US legally but as a dependent and so he can only stay while the visa holder is in status. So, long answer short, he cannot stay once his parents leave.

Answer by Ali A
Tell him to go home to Brazil, then apply for a student visa to study here. Heck, even community colleges accept foreign students.

Answer by Sweetharttt
It sounds like your friend is an illegal alien. He must go home before he is 18 1/2 years old and apply to come back legally. After that point he is can be deported at any time. He is an illegal alien and will never amount to anything in this country.

Answer by pianojangee
No. To obtain green card he needs a sponsor, either immediate family member or US Employer, who must file petition for him.

Even if he gets married to US Citizen, due to his illegal status, he cannot adjust his status in US. He has to go back to Brazil and process the green card. Also, due to his illegal presence in US, there is chance his green card application will be denied.

Answer by Jan
If he and his parents are here illegally,he does not qualify for a green card. He cannot become legal while living here illegally.
