Q&A: Newborn: What baby clothes to take for delivery??
I live in Michigan and am due in January. Most likely we will have a couple inches of snow on the ground.
I have sleep stacks, swadlers, long onesies, fuzzy warm onesies, hats, blankets, and a fabric cover that goes over the car seat. What should I take to the hospital when I go into labor for baby to come home in??
The following is the answer:

Sounds like a good start. Bring the long fuzzy onesie, hat, blanket, mittens, and the cloth cover for the car seat. The trip from the hospital to the car should be short, have someone turn the heat on in the car before loading up. Good luck

A long sleeve onesi and a sleeper , a blanket, a hat and yes the cover that goes over the car seat. That will be enough.

Probably, you will have someone warming up the car, right? So the trick is getting the baby from the hospital to the car. I also hope that the someone would be pulled up right in front of the entrance to the hospital, so this is a quick run. I would put the baby in a onesie, then a sleeper (maybe fleece if you have it). You’ll need a warm blanket (and the hospital will likely provide a little flannel blanket). A hat will be important, but you want stuff that you can take off once you get the baby in the car. You don’t want the baby to get too hot once inside the car. As long as someone else is driving, sit in the backseat with the baby so you can judge how hot or cold the area is. I tried to sit in the back with my daughter for several months. It also helped me attend to her needs without trying to hop over the front seat or twist around and distract the driver.
Some Native American tribes used to dip their babies in icy lakes during the winter so they’d get used to the cold. So I suspect your baby will survive the few minutes of exposure to the cold if you have him/her wrapped up.
Congratulations to you on your baby and kudos to you for trying to research various issues about what is best for your baby!

You should bring the long john onesies and a couple of outfits. You really wont be taking the baby outside while you are there. Just make sure to bring a snow suit for that first trip to the cold outdoors

i would say anything warm. definatly take a hat & some blankets. sleep sacks would make it a little hard 2 get the baby buckled into a car seat. so maybe 1 of the fuzzy onesies. i would also take some long onesies for while u r still @ the hospital.
i luv babies. have lots of fun with him/her!
♥good luck & congrats!!!♥

I would bring a few outfits for the stay in the hospital — I liked having mine in their own clothes, although by all means, the hospital t-shirts are terrific. Those terrycloth sleepers are ideal. For the ride home you probably don’t need much more than that, with a hat and the cover for the carseat. Your husband will most likely be pulling the car around so it’ll be warm by the time you get the baby in there!
I had my kids in October in PA, so it wasn’t THAT cold, but they came home in t-shirts, pants, socks, and a sweater and hat that I made for them
Your going to need a little hat, mittens, a body with long sleeves possible in wool (lined in cotton), tights, a warm onesie, a blanket and the fabric cover for the car seat.
A few sleepers, 2 hats, 2 blankies, and the car seat swaddler. You don’t want to take too much and it depends on how long you’ll be there for but that should pretty much cover it.
I gave birth to my daughter in Nov. and I remember going in to the hospital and it was warm and then when we came home there was snow on the ground. I packed a one piece pants/long sleeve shirt. I had one of those infant snow suit coats, but the only problem was it was HUGE on her. They were 0-3 and NB. I had to go back out shopping for preemie outfits for her to wear. Ask your doc how much the baby seems to weigh and length. My daughter was 19 and 1/2 and 6lbs 8oz. When I took her home she only wade 6lbs 1oz. I’d pack a long sleeve pants outfit in NB and the same in preemie, just in case. Have the snow coat suit and a two blankets. one for over the carseat carrier and one around the baby. Plus you can use it in the hospital. Something easy to get on and off. Good Luck. : )
