I think a 4 month old would fit into 6-9 month better...At least that's how my niece is. She is 3 months and just barely fits in her 3-6 mo clothes!

depends on how he grows. my daughter wore 6-9 mths when she was 12 months but my son is in 12+ mths and he is 11 months. on average your baby if is 4 mths then should wear 3-6 months. it is always nice to have a variety of sizes this way as he grows so fast you are prepared

It all depends on the size of the child. when it says 3-6 months it gears toward the avarage 3-6 month old baby. My son is 8 months and wears 18 months. He was 10lbs at birth so he started off wearing 3-6 month. My oldest was 7.8lbs at birth and wore newborn. hope this helps

Every baby is different. My son skipped sizes. When your looking for cloths, try to go by weight and not size. You'll end up saving money on cloths that won't fit in a couple of weeks. And also, every style of clothing is cut different, so one outfit in 6-9 mo. might be too big, the next brand will be too small. The tags usually say the weights that each size means.

Newborn and 0-3 are basically the same size. Sometimes Newborn is smaller. Infant sizes are generally from 0-24 mos or in some stores 0-12mos.
In theory a 4 month old would wear 3-6 months as the ages correspond to the size. I say in theory b/c some babies wear a larger or smaller size depending on how big they are.
Dont buy alot of newborn sized clothes b/c they grow out of that stage really fast!

Newborn is generally smaller than 0-3 months. My son was a good size baby (8lbs 4ozs and 22 inches at birth) yet he still wore newborn clothing for a little bit. He was in 0-3 months for until about a month and a half. At that time, he switched to 3-6 months. He spent about 2 or 3 weeks in that size and then went on to 6-9 months. It all depends on the brands though. We have some onesies that are lables as "just" something or other and he STILL fits in their 0-3 month size. Carters is 6months or 9 months. Gap is 6 months. Gerber he is too small for 12 months but wayyy to big for 6-9 months because they shrink so much in the dryer.

It's SOOO much easier to go by the weight. Remember that the weight curve is much steeper from 0 - 4 months and then levels off as babies start to grow taller.
Babies (not premies) generally follow this rule . . .
Double their birthweight at 6 months
Triple their birthweight at one year
You can download an infant growth chart, figure on the birth weight being somewhere in between you and the father's birth weight.

A newborn is exactly that - a baby that is newly born. I would say that a baby that is older than around 3 months is officially an infant and not a newborn. As for clothing, I would rely more on the weight/height measurements on the clothes, rather than the month measurements. Different brands go by different measurements, and I wouldn't say that all babies that are 3-6 months old will be wearing 6-9 month old clothes. My son was wearing 6 month clothing at around 4 months, and started wearing 9 month sizes at around 7 months.
