My Baby Is Going On 7 Months What Kind Of Foods And Liquids Can I Give Him?

7 December 2009

I started feeding him baby food about a month a half ago, can he start to eat other foods?

Q&A   Q&A Q&A   Q&A Q&A   Q&A

A:

I am still giving my 7 month old the #2 baby foods (purees). However, I didn’t start him on solids till 6 months.
I recently tried giving him cheerios to see if he could “feed himself” but they are still too hard I believe. He kind of choked on one.
Then this morning I tried giving him oatmeal and he choked on it and ended up vomitting all over the high chair! So I guess my 7 month old still isn’t ready.
As for liquids, my doctor said 6 to 8 oz of water/juice a day is okay.

A:               He can eat whatever he is capable of getting into his mouth and gumming up.
Many 7 month olds can manage finger foods. Others still need purees. So, try offering some table foods. If he can eat them, he will. If not, try again in a week or two.
His breastmilk or formula is still the basis of his diet — just for fun. So offer solids in fairly small amounts, after regular breastfeeds or bottles.
As for liquids, he can have small amounts of water and diluted juice, but doesn’t really need them. Like solid foods, they are just for fun, and to learn to use a cup.

A:              yes infact its ussually better for them, bananas steamed carrots trying cutting up a pear and baking it wrapped it tin foil on like 400, 20-25 mins or until soft then cut it up and give it to him, same goes for apples
dont go for berries there skin and seeds can be dangerous. try filling an ice cube tray with yogurt put saran wrap over it or tape wax paper over it and stick popsicle sticks in it then put them in the freezer for a healthy summer snack they are the perfect size too for a baby

A:             He is probably a bit young to do finger foods well, but you can try. I know I started giving my dd cheerios and gerber puffs at this age, along with chunks of soft, ripe fruit that she sometimes needed a bit of help to actually get in her mouth
At 7 months you can also introduce whole milk plain yogurt, as long as there is no history of dairy allergies in your family. There are lots of meals you can make with that by combining it with fruit purees and/or chunks of fruit.
Some drs say that it is ok to start gentle meats like chicken around this age, because they are a good source of iron. YOu can either give pureeed chicken or very tiny chunks of cooked chicken.

A:              Well if he has teeth then he can start eating soft big people foods. Like bread or lil peices of friut. And they make snacks for babies that melt in there mouth. And for drinks. He can have apple juice or any juice that is watered down a litle bit. I really hope this helps. I am only 13 but i have 2 younger brother and i help my mom alot.

A:               my babys almost 8 months and i feed him alot of what i eat! also started him on 3rd foods. also give him teething biscuts, lil puffs and crunchies and juice also mum mums
