  1. Anthony's Mommy

I just started yesterday, and he’ll be 6 months next week. I had him on cereal since he was four and a half months.

  2. I don’t think she should even be eating cereal yet. I think they’re supposed to start eating cereal at 4 months, and then after a few weeks add in one new food a week.

  3. She should b at least 4 mos before starting any food. U already started her on cereal, but wait at least 1 more mo b4 starting her on anything else or u raise her risks of getting food allergies. Docs recommend a child is 4-6 mos b4 starting any food – even cereal.

  4. Usually around 5 or 6 months. Make sure you only introduce one new food at a time. You should wait at least a week to make sure there are no allergic reactions then move on to the next food. This is the fun part so enjoy every moment!

  5. my son seemed like he wasn’t getting enough through just the formula so I started him on rice cereal once a day at 3 months and got him use to eating off a spoon and being able to swallow it. When he seemed like he had that down I tried introducing carrots to him and he loved it-he had just turned 4 months at that time. He is almost 8 months now and he is acting like he is ready for more “grow up food” I asked my son’s doc about introducing new foods and he said as long as he can swallow the food-since it is thicker than formula and rice cereal- and can chew it you can try it but in small portions. Every baby is different and you just need to watch and learn from them-believe me they will let you know when they are ready for something new! Good Luck!

I don’t think its wise to give a 3 month old cereal or anything else other than formula or breast milk for that matter. Their little digestive systems are not completely developed and cannot handle food like that. Please check with your doctor on this and do not follow what some parents will tell you on here without your doctors consent. I made the mistake of giving my son cereal in his bottle and he had major digestive issues and tummy problems. Good luck!!!!

  7. Trial & Error…
I grew up with many siblings foster children. Every child is different. If your baby is ready for new foods try things out. You’ll learn real quick which food your baby likes and which foods your babies stomach can handle.

if your baby is already taking cereal without a prob then try her on a new food now. it will not hurt her. my kids loved sewwt potatoes and squash!

  9. babies shouldn’t start solids till at least 4 months..due to their immature digestive system. could lead to long term digestive issues.. I would recommend waiting till 4 months for cereal..and maybe around then start her with single fruit.. like bananas, applesauce… and around 5 months ever 3-4 days introduce a different single fruit or vegetable.. the 3-4 days is so you can rule out any allergies. also you shouldn’t start meats till 7 months.

  10. At 5-6 months of age is recommended,at 3months your baby can handle rice cereal but she wont be able to digest solids just yet, when shes of age you can start her on carrots, potatoes etc, and only introduce one new food at a time, usually a week apart, also don’t give her honey, eggs etc until shes at least 12months of age
Be sure to check with her Pediatrician before commencing her on solids, you don’t want to run the risk of her having tummy problems.
    Goodluck

  11. I started mine on veggies and fruits at 4 months old after I ok’d it with their Pediatrician . Only introduce one food at a time so if there is a reaction then you know what it is from.

  12. You can start her now. Gerber has “steps” of food. Step one is very creamy, pretty much like cereal, step two has SMALL mushy chunks, step 3…. etc… She should be at a safe point for very well puree’d food. If you have any doubts, call your doctor, they can tell you when and what to feed her.
    Cheers
