literacy teacher–: What are good literacy resources for a 1st grade teacher?
I just accepted a 1st grade teaching position and will be a first year teacher. I’ve had A LOT of experience in Kindergarten and 2nd grade+, but none in 1st grade. I’m honestly a little intimidated by the transition from kindergarten (I’m filling in for a teacher now) to 1st. I want to do as much prep. as I can and would absolutely love suggestions of what books/websites/etc. I should turn to. Specifically for 1st grade. Thanks!
In response to the first, I know I can’t. I want to be well informed of different approaches and intervention strategies (that type of stuff) to be more effective. I don’t wan to just look at the curriculum and teach from that. I want to study and understand every part of what I do and how to effectively work with each kiddo I come into contact with.
The answer in the following: (Hint: The answer is not necessarily.)

This is interesting. I didn’t know that teachers could pick out their own curiculum and make up their own ideas on how to teach the children.
I know that is how it USE to be, but now with NCLB the states mandate what teachers are to teach, how to teach, when to teach, what curiculum to use, etc.
But if you CAN do this like you say then that’s great!!

If you go to google and type in Literacy for First Grade, you’ll get lots of information. Your school also might have subscriptions for certain websites: discovery.com, etc.
Good luck, I’m sure the transition will be fine!

Hi,I did the following:,In the blog: ask a toddler & Newborn Baby Clothes.
The following are not relevant to the content of some literacy teacher,But funnyFriendship is like earthenware: once broken, it can be mended; love is like a mirror: once broken, that ends it. (Josh Billings. American humorist)Work makes the workman. Come what may, heaven won’t fall..Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.。!!Reminded :It’s very easy to get sucked into the constant advertising of baby powders, creams, and lotions. But the best baby lotion is plain old olive oil—cheap, natural, and un-perfumed. As for other products, keep it as natural, organic, and fragrance-free as possible.
