Is This Ok? Or Should I Use An Infant Toothbrush?
My 9 month old son likes to chew on wet wash clothes and carry them around in his mouth(like a puppy with a bone!) i was just wondering if this is enough for his teeth or should i brush them myself?
btw, he has seven teeth and is getting 3 more in and he is biting everything that goes into his mouth.
Q & A Questions & Answer Q & A
A:
The wash cloth I’m sure was useful when he was just teething but he has a few teeth now and it would be beneficial to introduce a baby tooth brush. Also, wet cloth of any kind can grow bacteria very fast. I can’t imagine he’s keeping it in his mouth all day long–probably setting it down sometimes or dropping it on the floor.

Buy an infant toothbrush and whatever form of toothpaste your pediatrician recommends and do it twice a day or per recommendation. Crawling around with a washcloth is kinda a nasty habit that can cause problems but an occasional frozen washcloth is a nice feel ling for the gums just take it away when it has warmed and replace it with a freshly laundered one. Good luck.

Well, you can introduce a toothbrush. Definitely get an infant toothbrush. They sell finger brushes that are made of rubber. I used to use a washcloth when my son only had a few teeth, but since your son seems to have a mouth full already, i’d start getting into the habit of brushing.
If you get toothpaste, make sure it’s fluoride free.

a wash cloth is okay while they are still young but there are baby tooth brushes that you will have fun using. my 2 yr old just now uses the electric brush as well as my 11yr old but my 10 month old only has two teeth and i use the finger brush this way i keep my funger to the side of his teeth and he does not bite.
A:
You should really get a baby toothbrush once the teeth are there
A:
Personally I’d try and get a small amount of baby toothpaste on them, although I know advice differs sooo much in different areas of the world where it comes to parenting, I’m in the UK and they tell us here to brush them properly with a brush and a dab of baby toothpaste twice a day but if advice differs wherever you are then follow that – who’s to say what is right and wrong!
A:
Our pediatric dentist said a wash cloth with plain water was enough for babies & toddlers. Even at 2, he said it was still fine for my daughter (although we use a soft toothbrush & training toothpaste).
