I would start with some rice or some cereal mixed in a bottle of formula. Cut the tip of the nipple on the bottle so it can easily get through.

Starting with cereal would be your best bet. You can mix it in with a bottle, or mix it with a small amount of breast milk. This should satisfy his stomach more and not be too much on his little system.

no he's not. eventhough he supports his head and sits well, his digestive system is not mature enough for solids.
i know that some parents give solids to babies around this time but i would advice you to wait till he is at least 5 months.

The rule when my girls were born was 4-6 months when baby cereal begins. Rice first , mixed , then cereal mixed with fruit. It doesn't sound like your child is under fed. Your milk must be great. If he isn't sleeping for a 4-5 hour stretch check with your doctor. Perhaps he will let you try just a little cereal to help hold your child over night. There really isn't a reason to rush feeding.

I would wait until at least 4 months. Even though your baby is ready is some ways, inside he isn't going to be ready until about 4 months... and that is the minimum. Some people wait until 6+ months.
You might be excited to try the next new thing or worried that he isn't getting enough to eat, but just try and wait a little bit yet... and then start slow... only once a day for a couple weeks, then twice a day and then you can introduce other things. And when you start, start with rice cereal or oatmeal mixed with fruit juice. It will help prevent constipation.
Good luck!

Yes honey, it is WAY too soon to even think about adding solid food!! You are doing a magnificent job of feeding your little one! He sounds like my babies! They were always at the top of the weight charts but they turned out tall and slim. My boys are all over 6 ft. tho my daughters are petite.
Keep up the good work, you are doing great. You are one of those lucky women for whom breastfeeding just seems to come naturally, you are very lucky, and so is your precious little boy.
Don't mess up a good thing by adding solid food. Remember when you do add solid food (at about 6 months) that you are replacing a superior food with an inferior one. There is nothing you will ever give your baby that is as good for him as your breastmilk. Always let him nurse first when he is hungriest, that way he will get the benefit of your milk first and then let him try what solid food he wants, when he is older!
Breast is best honey and you are doing a great job! If it is not broke, don't fix it!
Love and Blessings

i know its so tempting to start baby on foods but having put my daughter on baby food at 8 weeks old i learnt the hard way cos it messed her system up and then i couldnt get her to eat anything meaning doctors intervention and hospital feeds.
I would STRONGLY advise that you hold off solids until the baby is ready, you will kow when baby is ready as it wont settle on just milk feeds and at first you will be making more feeds until you realise its actually time the child starts solids. It is advised no baby under 4 months should be introduced to solids and even then baby rice at first. but reccomended if you can wait till 66 months to do so. It is so cute feeding baby at first but it soon gets boring so id leave it till baby is ready,,, you will have your feeding times soon enough.

It's too early. It's not about his strength but ability to swallow. Just keep breastfeeding him. Your milk will change and become more "fatty" to support his needs.

You don't want your child to grow up any quicker than they have too. In my opinion I think you should wait until he is alittle older. The doctors say that you should wait until 6months of age and then wait to introduce new foods after three to five days.
