Infant Clothing Sizes… My Baby Is Huge!?

i had a boy born 1 month ago weighing in at 11lbs,14oz and 23 inches long. i am well aware that is huge for a newborn, and i know that he is wearing clothes made for babies well beyond his age. i’m past that point. but i am wondering if he is also odd-shaped. he has a really long torso. his legs don’t LOOK misproportioned to me, but maybe it’s just because i’m used to him. i just wonder b/c he is wearing 3-6 month onsies and even those are snug lenth-wise, some don’t fit at all. i even had him in a 6-9 month collar shirt and it his belly kept popping out of it (that did seem a bit small for 6-9 months though). but he is still wearing 0-3 month pants. the 3-6 month pants are way too long. so although he is “tall”, he’s all body. is that uncommon? i wonder if other babies that aren’t born monster-sized have this same problem…
thanks!

He is a big boy, but some babies have short torso’s and long legs and others are the opposite or long both ways or short both ways. Your baby is perfectly normal, my 9 1/2 month old can wear a shirt 6-9 months but her pants have to be 12 months because her legs are to long, when she was 5 months old I bought her pants that were 6-9 months old and they didn’t work because of her legs and her big belly!

  3. You do have a big baby! Congratulations on your son, but this is common now a days. An eight pound baby is considered normal birth weight now, when i had my children six was the norm. He will be just fine. He just happens to be a big boy, which means he will be tall. So excite yourself in knowing that maybe he will join the nba and buy you that big beautiful house you’ve always wanted! LOL Enjoy!

wow!!!! You had a 12 pound baby!!! That’s amazing!!!
Any way excuse my shock, my son wears 3-6 month onesies but still is in 0-3 month pants cause the 3-6 month pants are too long. Now I didn’t have a 12 pounder like you but he was almost 9 pounds at birth.

Aww you have a big baby, that’s cute. My son is 8 months and wearing size 18 months, he is very long.. 29 inches and 21 pounds. He was 9lbs at birth. Boys are suppose to be big in my opinion!
