I Recieved Some Hand Me Infant Clothes.do I Need To Rewash Them?they Smell Like Dreft Detergent, So I Think No?

I would wash them, heck I even wash brand new clothes from the store. People think I’m wasting money by doing that but I’m just making sure the kiddos are safe. In the day and age now, I would say wash everything you get for the little one; just cause of the flu going around.

A:

Yes. Unless they just washed them before they gave them to you.

A:         Are they for an infant/newborn? If they are and have been sitting around for awhile, I would wash them with a small amount of sensitive soap (e.g. Ivory Snow or any of the new perfume and Dye free formulas, Purex, Tide-Free, etc.).
Soaps can irritate an infant (nevermind baby, toddler, child)’s skin and so can dust, so it’s best if clean clothes “don’t” smell of soap, so I’d wash them.

A:         I always do – even if they smell clean, you don’t know exactly how long they have been stored or how they were stored before being given to you. I just want to make sure that any dust or skin irritants are off them before putting them on my kids.

A:                    If they came from someone you know and you trust that they washed them recently… then it is a personal choice anyway. I however buy a ton of stuff off eBay.. and wash everything! I don’t know everyones wash habits, or how the item(s) were stored, so into the washer it goes with either Dreft of All Free and Clear.

A:             If you want you could always ask the person who you got them from when the last time they were washed was, how long they were in storage, and how they were stored. Or you could just rewash them, it’s your personal choice.
All brand makes baby detergent too so you know, and it’s cheaper than Dreft.

A:     Ive rewashed all the hand-me-downs so far. ) But, it’s your own personal choice.

A:             I always wash hand me downs, but like everyone else said, it’s a personal choice.

A:            even though they smell like dreft you should always wash any baby clothes given to you. You dont want to take any chances it is for your baby.

A:

That’s a personal choice. They have been washed before so no worry of formaldehyde on baby’s skin.
I would wash them but that is just me.
