I Have An 8 Month Old Baby Boy And He Eats Regular Foods.can Someone Give Me Simple Ideas For Snacks & Meals?
22 December 2009
He will not eat baby jar food and I don’t want to give him anything he will choke on either.
Snacks–cheese, vienna sausages, a whole dill pickle, ritz crackers, melba toast, whole green beans, — dinner, mashed potatoes, cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt, pears or peaches, and remember to make small pieces if you have a gummer make sure you watch that they aren’t going to choke, they also seem to like beans and a dill pickle may sound crazy but they like something in their hand and if you cut one end off will suck on the pickle. No chips or cookies or sodas, juice in the cup or milk or water. They also like stew and expecially cooked carrots in rounds. Enjoy that baby!!
Fruit cups make a very nutritious snack, and the clean up is easy.
In past times, people would chew up the food and give some to the baby.
It really depends on whether or not your son has teeth as to what you can give him. He could pretty much gum to death anything soft you might give him. I fed my daughters lots of scrambled eggs and french toast was a big hit. Like the other responder said, be sure to cut the food into small enough bites that he won’t choke. Finger jello can be fun. Cheerios is a good take-along snack (as are other cereals). I’m not big on hot dogs because they’re not at all healthy! Grapes tend to scare me because children have choked on them (they’re a pain to cut up). Bananas are a great fruit. Boiled potatoes (mash ‘em or cut into small pieces), canned fruits like peaches cut up (don’t waste your money on already cut up baby fruit). Yogurt. Cheese. Pasta… mac & cheese…
I’m not sure if you’re looking for finger food or food that you’re going to feed him. Let him experiment. He’ll let you know really fast was he likes and doesn’t like!
Mashed(or chopped) fruits and (cooked)vegetables (bananas, peaches, pears, avocados, cooked carrots, squash, potatoes, sweet potatoes)
Cooked pasta, cut up in small pieces.
Cherios–my son loved this, plus it helps them develop the pincher grasp. You can also try the baby puffs.
Yogurt.
Finely chopped chicken pieces.
cut hot dogs up into small pea size peices. You can also steam veggies and cut them up to give to him. Cut grapes into 1/4 peices. Try to stay away from steak and beef products, hard for them to digest. Almost all foods, just cut up real small like the size of peas.
I have an 11 month old baby and he was eating regular food at that age too. but they wont choke if they mash food with their gums , does your baby have any teeth? well you can give him/her gerber finger foods, the fruit puffs they make a great snack… i usually just cut a banana in small pieces for him or any fruit. meals i give my baby cream of wheat in the morning and he loves that. for dinner give your baby little pieces of what you are having and see if he/she likes it, when we have pizza i usually give my baby the pizza crust with a little sauce on it he loves that too. or mashed potatoes, stuff like that.
