How Old Does Baby Need To Be To Start On Stage 2 Foods?
I wanted to know when I should quit giving my baby stage 1 and go to stage 2. He just started stage 1, he is just now 4 months old. My sisters baby is only 9 months and eating regular people foods, off the gerber stuff. So how do I progress through the stages?

A:
If he seems ready try it. At worst he’ll spit it out and you can try again another day.
Don’t worry, they seem to go from baby food to grown up food really quick!
PS – You don’t need to quit the stage one food if he likes it, just add the stage two as well!
A:
6 months. Do not feed meats until 8 months, due to the digestive system is still a little too young before then. After that, your on your way. Just make sure you keep all milk products for 12 months.

all babies are different. so when your baby can sit up with a little bit of help, and keep her/his head up, they are ready. but remember to test first by trying little bit of new type of food.
A:
It’s not really about ages, it’s about developmental stages. When your baby starts doing the mashing with his jaws (kind of like chewing), is sitting up by himself, that’s usually when they are ready. My son is 6 months old and wants nothing to do with baby food, while my nephew who is 8 months old eats everything.
The back of the Gerber packaging often includes signs to know your baby is ready.

I started my son on stage 1 foods at 4. 5 months. He is 6 months now and has moved onto stage 2. My pediatrician said that the difference between stage 1 – 2 is minimal, but the jump from stage 2-3 is more drastic so that should wait until he is at least 9+ months. Then after stage 3 works well for your baby you can start introducing adult food, but the major concern is the consistency (choking) and making sure that your adult food isn’t seasoned very much. Babies need plain food for quite some time. Don’t use salt or other spices until they are much older.
Make sure that your baby is still getting breast milk or formula in their diet too… the baby foods are important, but so is the milk!

My pediatrician told me I could start Stage 1 foods at 4 months. Stage 2 could be started at 6 months. However if you’d ever tasted some of that crap you’d make your own food. I just keep a few jars on hand for traveling. Try the Gerber.com website for a feeding by age schedule.

everyone is different and every baby is different. I didnt start mine on stage one till 7 mos (started first solids-cereal and juice at 6) so I didnt start stage 2 till about 9 mos. my kids didnt get one bite of table food till they were one year old. I did make some baby food but added nothing, no salt, no butter, etc.. I think the slower you go the better off they will be.
I would advice you to wait a couple of months at least
A:
what is stage 2? my kids ate food that i prepared. start with cereal and breast milk. then, vegetables, fruits, and meats. there is no reason the baby can’t eat real food. make sure the food for the younger baby has less texture -mash it well or use the puree mode on the blender. making your own food ensures the quality is fresher and you can prepare the same foods that the rest of the family eats.
A:
Various can be as early as 4 months
A:
When the baby is 5 months almost 6
