Question: How old do you have to be before your parents stop parenting you?
I’ve heard of young adults who have parents and they are still “parenting” them, ordering them around and telling them what to do and the parents claim that they do it for their children’s own good and safety. I’d say they’re overprotective and maybe needs to have more kids if they want to keep controlling their kids. I’ve even seen a person who is almost 30 and his parents still order him around.

I don’t think parents ever stop “parenting.” That child will always be my baby, no matter if I’m 85 and the child in question is 60.
I’m 31, and haven’t lived with my parents since I was 19. Yet, whenever I walk into my parents house, it’s like I’m 14 again. My Mom totally “parents” me to an extent. Cooks us food, worries about us drunk driving (because after all, if I’m being treated like a teenager with no responsibilities, I’m sure as hell going to act like one), and everything else under the sun.

Parents never really stop being parents. You’re their child, even when grown up and out of the house. I think it’s very sweet when my husband’s parents still fuss over him, even though in a few years he’ll be 40. But once you are grown and live on your own, you don’t have to listen to then so there’s always that plus.

I’m 35 and my mother still mothers me. It’s ok. I know she does it out of love. It’s not babying or anything, but more just spending a little extra time and energy. Maybe it’s because I’m the baby of the family, maybe it’s because I’m the only one who is single. I don’t exactly know. She does it to a lesser extent to my brother who is 52, too.
My dad? Not so much.
