A smart parent who shops at garage sales before thier child is born could easily dress their child in nice clothes with more than they will ever wear for under $50 for the first year. There is an excessive amount of barely used clothes in the newborn – 9 month size at garage sales. When you get into the 12 and 18 month range kids are more mobile and the clothes start to show more wear.
But yeah, the first year should cost less than $50 if the parents are low on money and smart shoppers. On the other hand if you buy designer labels new you could easily spend over $2000 on clothes. It just depends on your life style.
Well it all depends on where you shop. Theres always garage sales but you never know what your going to find. Theres times when you can find alot and theres time when you can find nothing. I think the best stores are the second hand stores. Not goodwill, which I’m not putting down, but they accept anything. Alot of second hand kids clothing stores accept only name brand in good condition. So not only are you finding name brand clothes in great condition, but you are only paying half to over half the price. They also have shoes, toys, and other baby/kid items like coats, hats, and halloween costumes. It will save you a lot of money. And the other good thing about stores like that is, you can take back the clothes and resell them. Also any clothes you’ve gotten any where else. You can try to keep them in good condition and when the season changes, take them in. I have a 3 year old girl. I kept her winter/fall clothes from last year. I took them in this year and got 200 dollars store credit. So I was able to basically trade off. Hope this Helps!!!!
depends totally on what you buy… brands, new/used, etc. (and how often you want to do laundry lol!)
You can buy sets of used clothes on ebay and at garage sales. could probably get by for like $100 or even less. On the other hand you can buy whole outfits someplace like baby gap or gymboree and spend like $1k.
It totally depends on how crazy you go for shopping. I know sometimes baby clothes are so irresistible(specially for girls), you cant help yourself and buy it.They wear it once or twice and then your baby outgrows it. I saw some sweaters in macy’s last weekend which were $120. . They are selling it because people are buying it. And there are so many reasonable places like kohls.com, childrenswear etc there you can spend very less. So it totally depends on you. Remember they outgrow it very soon.
