My friend is like that too!
We learned about something like that in science last year. It has to do with the recessive and dominant traits your parents had. I don’t remember it that well, but each person carries specific traits with them, and when they come together, they form a new trait or something like that. Sorry I’m not much help but just so you know, it’s normal.

Eye color was previously thought to be a Mendelian inheritance trait, where dominant genes from either parent usually present with the dominant form of the trait and those that received the recessive gene from both parents present with the recessive trait. Now eye color inheritance is based on a more complex genetic model, possibly involving more than one gene. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Mendelian_traits_in_humans

We get “Why am I [Big nosed | Blue eyed | Blonde | Tall | Fair . . .]
When my parents are [Small nosed | Brown eyed | Brunette | Short | Dark ...]?”
here every week. The answer is about the same for all of you;
if you mix a pint of yellow paint and a pint of blue, you get a quart of green, every time. People are more complex. If you want an exact answer, you’d have to take a sample of your DNA, your mother’s DNA and your father’s DNA to a good lab, with a couple of hundred (or even thousand) dollars and have them do a scientific analysis. They might find a gene that had been lurking in the recessive pool for 2, 3 or 4 generations, passed down from your great grandparent, the Huguenot.
What we can say from here, with just your description, is that there can be several possibilities. In order of likeliness, most likely first,
1) You drew a rare hand in the poker game of genetic inheritance.
2) You are adopted and they haven’t told you yet.
3) Your mother had an affair; your “father” either doesn’t know or loves you both too much to let it bother him.
4) Your father had an affair and got the child; your “mother” knows but loves you both too much to let it bother her.
5) Your parents lived too close to an atomic power plant and you are a mutant.
6) Long ago, when he discovered his plant was going to explode, your real father put you into a rocket ship headed for earth . . .
1 – 3 are common, with 1 being the answer most of the time. I threw in 4 – 6 to cover all of the bases. 6 is the story of Superman, if you haven’t read old comic books. It is highly implausible.
