Q&A: How did I get Hazel/Brown eyes when parents both have green/blue eyes?
Well grandfather had brown eyes, grandma had same as my parents color. Sister has same as my parents but I got like Hazel in light, and light brown/brown in dark areas. ITs weird I thought 2 blue is blue child? I took biology before but never figured out how this happens. Parents dont have dominant if both have blue/green. Is it because of my grandpa? I am just wondering about all this.

The fact is that not all traits can be explained by simple Mendelian genetics (that is, strict dominant/recessive behavior). In fact, the vast majority of traits are related to -interactions- between multiple genes. So to be honest, I can’t answer directly; scientists actually don’t know the total number of genes that are involved with eye color. All I can tell you is that inheritance of eye color is a lot more complicated than simple dominant/recessive alleles.
