Good Foods For 9 Month Old Baby?

My nephew has 3 teeth and (since he refuses to eat baby food) doesn’t have a large selection of foods to eat. What is good, fairly soft food we can try? We’ve done mashed potatoes, rice, etc. Any suggestions for something new that might interest him?

A:             Both of my kids loved scambled eggs when that stopped like babyfood. Things like spagetti work well if you just cut it up real small! Oh yeah toast they loved toast, even dry toast.

A:             Sure… banana… Mini go’s, which are like kid’s yogurt… um… soft boiled root veggies. I gave my daughter parsnip fries, which she adored. They eat just about anything… oh, yesh- I’d make popsicles out of cataloupe last summer and she loved them. Baby Mums- rice rusk cookies are great!! Cheerios work. My baby loved everything…

A:              fruit and oatmeal, soups, sandwiches, weiners, vienna sausages, and potted meat and corn beef, corn, peas, broccoli, noodles, and breads

A:            My 2 year old never ate baby food…I bought a food processor…and fed him whatever we ate…it tastes better too.

A:             My son is 9 months too. He really wants to feed himself to. He really likes blended fruits the best because they are sweet. I feed him fruit mixed with rice cereal for breakfast, a vegetable for lunch (He loves sweet pototoes and squash) and a veg and fruit for dinner. I try and feed him a color variety though because I think that it is more nutritious. I he doesn’t like a veg (green beans), I feed it with a fruit he does like (pears). I alternate between the two so he has to eat it. I give him zweiback toast and “Biter Bicuits (Gerber)” to snack on while I feed him and it seems to distract him from the fact that I’m still feeding him too. You’ll have to watch him so that he doesn’t choke on any pieces that he might bit off that are too big for him to swallow. I just stick my finger in his mouth and take them out. I feed him foods that are in the 2nd and some 3rd stages that you can find at the grocery store for babies. Check them out. They are only 50-60cnt each. Try some of those and see what he likes. Make sure though that even though they seem to like the sweets more, that they are getting all the nutrition he needs.

A:             Prepare the same foods you eat, omit the spices, then blend them in a blender or food processor. Don’t make them too mushy as your nephew might be at an age when he wants to chew something.

A:              Take anything you eat and put it in the blender. In olden days, people would just pre-chew their adult food and pop it into Junior’s mouth.

A:             holy cow..we are totally going through the same with my baby boy..also 9 mos…he refuses to eat baby food as well! I have tried ance de pepes (pasta), tri-colored pasta spirals cut into small pieces, strawberries, banana slices, baked beans, Gerber fruit puffs, Gerber wagon wheels, honeycomb cereal, Cheerios, sweet potatoes, arrowroot biscuits, also really soft mango, kiwi and white rice. We started with the chewing process with the Gerber treats since they dissolve very quickly. I hate to admit this but since my baby is a hound for these treats i bribe him to eat his rice and oatmeal cereals alternating spoon of cereal for treat.
