Why not pump enough milk ahead of time and give it to your baby in a bottle? I used to do that all the time when mine was nursing.
Answer by Meaty Babby
why don’t you just freeze some of your beast milk?
Answer by Jocey B.
Speaking from personal experience, I fed my exclusively breastfed infant formula for two days because I was on medication that the doctor said was not safe for breastfeeding moms. When I found out that I had been misinformed, my baby was constipated. This caused a lot of grief.
If you are going to step out and have a few drinks, you should probably express your own milk to help your baby avoid possible stomach upset, gas or constipation.
It would also be a good idea to thoroughly express your milk the morning after you drink, just to be safe.
Hopefully this helps!

Just make sure to pump and dump, to keep your milk supply up and to keep from getting engorged.
Oh, also make sure your baby will take a bottle. (Mine won’t, so I’m just sayin’.) Otherwise, he or she is going to be one miserable little munchkin.

i wouldnt. just pump ahead of time.
i tried giving my lil one some formula the other day and just getting him to take a bottle in itself was SUCH a challenge.
once he finally did take the bottle he only drank about 2 oz of formula….cuz honeslty i dont think he like it he made horrible faces.
then the rest of the night he was throwing up!!
i say its best just to go ahead and freeze some of your milk!
good luck

As long as you pump so it doesn’t impact your supply. However, just pumping can impact your supply too.I have been breastfeeding for almost a year now. The general rule of thumb on drinking is you can have a beer or two and still nurse. Let me tell you I have stretched this rule and have had 3 beers. Generally if you don’t feel drunk you are fine.
Some friendly advice… I am not sure if this is your first child or what but the way I look at it with drinking, I have my whole life ahead of me to drink and have fun. What is a year or two out of my life to dedicate to breastfeeding and my son. You can still go out and have a drink or two or three in my case and enjoy yourself.
Also, I am not sure how old your child is but mine refused formula/bottle. So I would make sure that your baby is willing to take formula/bottle before you attempt this. Also be careful your baby doesn’t get gassy. Formula is much different on the stomach. breast is best IMO!!
Have fun momma.

What everyone is saying is true ur baby will not adjust that quickly…when I converted it took several months but what worked best is sensitive formula by similac or good start… a day and 1/2 is a long time …if u plan on drinking work on discontinueing breastfeed slowly all together. It will take more than a day for alchol to completely b out of ur system.. up 7 days..
Answer by Kaylin
yep its fine i formula and breast fed for the first two weeks… if your drinking a whole bottle you shouldnt breast feed but to be honest if your only having two drinks i dont think it would hurt your baby if you breast fed if anything your baby might sleep nice lol.

Try pumping milk ahead of time so he can still have your milk whenever you’re unavailable for him. I don’t think it’s a bad idea at all. go to the dr you might need to start on rice mixed with the formula but check on what the dr suggests
Answer by sarahsmile
You could mix it with some Joice or watering it down more. If that doesn’t help put him on whole milk. You should also check the the pediatrician just give them a call.

If you are breastfeeding too, why not increase breastfeeds? If there are supply issues, they can often be boosted by increased suckling or other natural means.

pet milk mixed with his baby food
Answer by Howsthatworkinforya
What if you mix formula and breast milk? Check with a health nurse or clinic, he may be ok on Homogenized milk, especially if he is starting to eat baby food (as you mention trying spoon feeding so I assume he is on food?). Also, if you can afford it, goat’s milk is easier for people to digest than cow’s milk.
Answer by rooney
Babies prefer the breast, the milk is sweeter. So if you really want to formula feed, you’ll have to stop breastfeeding and when the baby is depserate enough it will eventually drink formula from the bottle.
At t his age she/her should be eating rice cereal and fruits and veggies so that fills them up a bit too. But the formula should still be the main source of nutrition.
Answer by Christal
Sounds like he wants to nurse
. If you don’t want to breastfeed exclusively, then try having someone else give him the bottle. You should leave the room, or even the house if you can. If he gets hungry enough, he WILL eat. You could also try pumping breast milk and seeing if he’ll take that from the bottle.
Some other posters have suggested whole (cow’s) milk. Most medical experts suggest NOT feeding your child cow’s milk until they are at least one year of age. It is harder than formula for a small baby’s tummy to digest, and there is also some research to support that early introduction of homogenized milk contributes to obesity and food allergies.
Good luck!
Answer by elaeblue
Baby will be fine as you are still breast feeding maybe try some juice in the bottle just half juice and half water at first. It may be that baby prefers the taste of breast milk.
Answer by mom2beof3
He probably prefers breast milk. Can you pump and feed it to him in a bottle? If so, you could try mixing formula with the pumped milk and gradually increase the formula amount and decrease the breast milk amount until he’s back to all formula. Good luck.
Answer by toomanycommercials
Maybe he wants real food. Most babies start solids at four months. Try some baby cereal made with formula.
