6 months- try starting with vegetables, because it you feed them fruit first, they won’t take the veg. later because they aren’t as sweet. Try mixing the baby food and cereal if she won’t eat cereal alone.

Answer by Jennield
As per doctors orders, we began feeding our son cereal at 4 months.
Just keep trying. Be sure to make it more like soup consistency at first rather than oatmeal consistency.

If you are bottle feeding, try giving her more ounces per bottle and/or stepping up to the faster flow nipple.
Good Luck.

i started my baby around 5 or 5.5 months on cereal, because i could barely keep up with breastmilk. try to make it real watery and see if she will eat it then. try every few days until she will eat if, make sure you mix with either breastmilk or formula

i started sweetpotatoes when she was 6 months, start off with one new veggie for a week, and then move onto another. after you have given her a wide variety of veggies, start her off on meat, and then finally fruit.

if you start off on fruit, she may not ever want to eat anything else. right now, I give my daughter a little of everything, she is almost 8 months now.

i personally put the cereal in her formula… i would start off with orange vegetables… squash, carrots etc.. keep it consistent for a couple of weeks then switch to green vegetables like peas… you are doing fine.. mother instincts!!!

Try canned baby cereals Gerber makes them so does beechnut some babies doesn’t like the boxed cereal also with cereals you try rice cereal first then oatmeal then barely or mixed cereals . When starting babies off on solids you start with the cereals then you can move onto the fruits then the veggies or thats how I did when my daughter was starting out on it all and I feed her the same thing for about a week or 2 to be sure she wasn’t allergic .
I started my daughter on cereals at 4 months then at 5 months she was on fruits n veggies then at almost 6 months she was on stage 2 foods and eating meat dinners.

Answer by Kristi
i started my son on cereal at 3 1/2 months then at 5 months i was giving him stage one Gerber foods and he is not 10 months and is on stage 3 foods and is eating puffs, scrambled eggs etc. try mixing your daughters cereal with some grape jelly (not alot) good luck!

Answer by joyfuljoy2001k
I started my daughter on rice cereal at 4 months once a day in the morning then at 6 months I started to mix fruits into her cereal. She seemed to like it more once I mixed the fruit in with it.

Answer by lmagic05
Put the baby cereal in the milk but not to thick so she can get adjusted to the taste. As my son got older, around 8 months I started putting the jars of food in his milk, like applesauce and peaches, etc. I didn’t really give him jar food til he was around 5 or 6 months. They are labeled with the levels you should start. I didn’t start with the actual glass jars though, I used the little plastic containers, they come either two or four. I only used organic baby foods and you can find them at Wal-Mart or any baby food aisle.

At five months, she has been ready for solids for a month now – and she does NOT need to nurse every hour – that is ridiculous.

Try making her baby cereal using breast milk. My kids wouldn’t eat it plain so I used to mix jarred pears (for babies) in it or other fruit. Try one fruit at a time every 3 days (to make sure she’s not allergic)

Answer by Tiffany
Id say they are more than ready to start cereal at 5 months. Apple sauce and other fruits are good to start them out on!

feeding baby cereal–: Can I start feeding my baby cereal?
My baby is 3 months old.
She’s eating a whole 6 ounce bottle and is still hungry.
She is well over 13 pounds already and is in the 95th percentile of her weight.

Is it ok if I go ahead and start feeding her cereal to fill her up?
she can hold up her own head and she can sit up all by herself when she uses her bumbo.

Answer by Timid Women Rarely Make History
No. It’s not necessary,or safe when she’s this young. She’s just going through a growth spurt, which is normal at three months. Just feed her as she’s hungry.

Answer by proudmommy
I wouldn’t. She’s still too young to digest it properly. Some pediatricians still recommend you start at 4 months (mine does), but the AAP says you should wait until 6 months. Either way, it’s still too soon.

I saw someone on here the other day say that her pediatrician yelled at her for starting her baby before his/her 4 month visit. It’s definitely not recommended.

Just give her some more breast milk/formula if she’s still hungry.

Answer by Greenland85
little pieces of banana(just little cut or smashed) might be better and healthier for your baby.

Answer by rainwriterm
So, because she’s eating more than you think is normal, you want to give her even more food?

3 months is a prime time to have a growth spurt where she needs to eat more often and larger quantities. Generally it starts to resolve after a week or so. If she is truly hungry (and not just eating because she wants to comfort suck), that means her body *needs* that nutrition, and replacing it with the equivilant of a crushed vitamin and wall paper paste (okay, not quite, but pretty close) does not make an adequate substitute.

Answer by Mecca Imani
As a mother I must say that your baby girl is doing well, but I would wait until she turns 4months to start introducing cereals and baby foods.

Answer by oswegolindzmeta
Wait until at least 4 months, that’s what my pediatrician recommended. For now try feeding her more and more often. Try giving her 8 ounces every couple of hours (buy bigger bottles if you have to).

Answer by JessMax + Twins
Cereal doesn’t actually fill them up, they don’t get enough of it when they are just starting it for it to fill them up. Since she is only 3 months old it’s not recommended to start it that early (4 months is the earliest that they recommend it), But if she can hold her head up well, if she can sit up, with ur help, and she seems to be interested in what u are eating then i say go ahead and start a lil bit of rice cereal, u know ur baby best, so go with what u think is right. But start with it very liquidy and only a spoonful or 2 at a time, and always do it with a spoon, don’t put it in the bottle.

Hope this helps and good luck, if u have any more questions about the rice cereal or anything else baby related u can email me and I’ll be happy to help u anyway I can, :D .

Answer by –s2–s2–
no i wouldn’t recommend it.
starting solids should be at least 6 months,
earlier if he/she has become more inquisitive.
be mostly cause she cant hold her neck yet (im presuming)
so if she does choke it will be more difficult for her to get it out. not only that i heard the would be more rick of allergies.
maybe try and stick to milk and call a maternal health nurse or talk to the doctor.

Answer by Danielle B
No she might just be going through a growth spurt. 3 months is still too young for rice cereal in my opinion, we didn’t introduce rice cereal until my daughter was close to 5 months.

Answer by Brooke and Brendan’s Mommy
Yes! My doctor told me to feed my baby cereal at this age. He is 13.5 pounds. So, they tell me that my doctor is just saying this because formula is expensive. Why would he care if it is? He’s not buying it. Everyone always bashes me for this, so I found an article online…

Looking at a baby’s development is far more important than looking at a calendar to decide when is the right time to start feeding solids. It was once popular to do this according to a rigid timeline of set serving sizes at certain intervals, but we now know that each baby develops uniquely.

Your baby may know it is time before you do! The most obvious sign is a baby that still seems hungry after getting enough milk (8-10 breast feedings or 32 ounces of formula in a day). Your darling may lean forward eagerly or act fussy when you are eating.

Babies that are ready for solids can lift and support their own heads. They usually weigh at least 13 pounds and have often doubled their birth weights. They display curiosity about the world around them, following objects with their eyes and smiling at what they see.

——that came from a group of doctors, and I have 3 more articles if you want to see them.——–

  1. rice cereal i started about 5 months then puree fruits and veggies…give her time if she doesnt want any now try in a week or so

  2. I waited until six months and started with rice cereal also. Wait a few days until she gets used to that then start giving her vegetables. My pediatrician recommended that you only give one new food at a time, every two to three days. This gives your babys body some time to get used to the new food and helps you in case they have any allergic reaction so that you will be able to tell exactly what it is from. Don’t worry if she doesn’t want to eat any of it now, her body is doing fine with just formula. Wait a few weeks and try it again but don’t force it on her. She will let you know when she’s ready.

  3. hi and my youngest one is 5months aswell. and you are the mother right so you will know what your baby wants and the do0ctors and the health vistors im sorry to say that they are not living with you. and as my little one has been eating since she was 4 months, so please forget the idiots becuase half of them have no children at all. so if you need anything at all keep in touch thanks.when your child is getting hungery then its time to feed with food.

  4. Rice baby cereal at 4 months.

  5. I started my little girl on cereal in her bottle at 2months old
Not alot just a bit to make her forulma a little thicker so she won’t go through bottles so much
