How much does the purple can of lacto free baby formula cost? I don’t know the name exactly but I know its in a purple can and is lactos free.

Where i am the purple lid is parents choice(im pretty sure) i don’t use it, i use good start and ive used simalic.. but it runs about 13 bucks for a can of Good start/simialc.. parents choice is prob like 6 bucks cheaper

The one I use has a purple label, it’s Similac Alimentum. For a bottle of Ready to Feed it’s .63, and a small can, the 12.9 ounce is .99. I’ve never seen any bigger cans. This is special formula though so it’s more expensive, and I’m not sure it it’s the one your talking about, but it has a purple label.

Question–: I am concerned about the cost of baby formula,but I don’t to be tied down to nursing. Can i collect breastmilk
I am only wishing to breast feed for one month, and then just breast pump and store the milk, due to the cost of the formula. Eventually I know I will have to start buying the formula, but would like to save as much money as I can. I wanting to be a stay at home mom and no i am gonna have to save as much money as I can. It is not fair because i can’t get financial assistance from the government since I am married, so it may be even harder for us, than a single mother who gets all of the formula paid for. Help please help me with suggestions. Also is their any financial help out their that i can get even though i am married?

have u tried the WIC program..you should be able to get formula and food for your baby there..i dont see why you wouldnt be able to get it..and yes i agree that formula is so expensive..its outrageous..

Are you in the US? If so, even though you are married you could qualify for WIC. Check it out! My husband is in the Army and makes o.k money, I do not work and we have two children, I breastfeed exclusively but we also get WIC for cheese, cereal, milk, eggs, juice etc…

Don’t think of being tied down nursing if you really want to save money. Try to nurse for at least 6 months. You can pump and save milk. Buy a good electric pump and there should be info in the booklet that comes with it on how long it can be stored and how to do it.
Check with your nursing dept at the hospital OB dept and they can direct you to the correst sources for info.
I breastfed two of my children for 14 months each and never had to buy a can of formula. Imagine how much money that saved me.
Also, did you check into your local WIC program? Contact your local health dept for information. They are quite generous on their monetary guidelines. You don’t have to be a single mother to get assistance.

Nursing is so much more pleasant than pumping. You will need to pump just as much as you would have to nurse in order to keep your milk supply going. So instead of being “tied down” to your delightful and happy baby, you’ll be “tied down” to an ugly machine that isn’t nearly so pleasant when it is pulling on your breasts.
Please consider nursing your baby for at least 6 months–when he/she will be the right age to start solid foods. You’ll save money on formula, your baby will love being close to you, and you will love the affect it has on your figure.
And if you’re going to be a stay-at-home mom anyway…

Why only breastfed for one month? Trust me, it is a damn sight easier to breastfeed than to express milk and feed from a bottle. It ties you down a lot more! Takes longer, more painful…
Your baby will settle into a feeding routine that you can work around without feeling tied-down. You can express some times and give someone else the bottle so you get a rest.
You don’t have to resort to formula at all.
There is such a thing as breastfeeding until the baby is old enough for cows milk.

well, i just want to tell you that its cool that you want to breast feed, and it does save money, but the pumping all the time thing, probably wont work. i can tell you that from experience. when i had my baby, i just could not get her to latch on, so i just pumped all the time. it worked for a little while, until she started drinking more and more. the pump, even the expensive ones, wont make your breasts produce enough milk. plus, you have to pump every time your baby eats because you produce at a supply and demand ratio, so if you are thinking it will be easier to pump rather than to just breast feed you are wrong. if you want to breast feed and you are going to be a stay at home mom you may as well just feed the baby from your breast, pumping will “tie you down” just as much. i promise you that. i strongly recommend you dont just pump. for your financial situation, you may want to look into WIC, they give you lots of formula. i get it, i am married and a stay at home mom.

You ronly choises really are breat feeding or formula. Cows milk should not be given to babies until 1 year old. getting a breat pump is a way to avoid formula. It is a one time cost, and you can find some relativelly cheap ones. Also you can try to apply for WIC if you are in the US

The WIC program has really reasonable income limits and you should look into it. You could also pump and freeze what you don’t need. Just because you are married doesn’t mean that you cannot get WIC. Also you can sign up for the Welcome to the Addition Club from Similac. They send you checks in the mail to use towards formula.

Please please take my advice…. I promise you want to read this. No matter what you might think Your beautiful new born baby is going to tie you down for at least two months, you are going to be physically and mentally exhausted. When your milk comes in and you are leaking milk everywhere you will wonder how you will even make it past the first week… Four weeks you are still recovering from the birth of your child. One month is not nearly fair. Formula is expensive and not as good for your baby. Breastmilk is liquid gold!!!! The best advice I recieved when I had my first was ” Try to breastfeed for at least two months before you quite” Its sooo true that after eight weeks you will be more on a schedule and ready to face the world with your baby. If you are going to be a stay at home mom than the best thing you can give your baby is your breast. I promise that if you breastfeed and give it a chance no matter how hard it is the first couple of weeks (its very hard) than you will love it, its so easy to whip out a boob in the middle of the night than it is to get out of bed and warm a bottle of powder. YUCK!!!

OK I was on the same boat. Do you have a Walmart in your area? If so go there they have this enormous can of Parents choice formula for like 13 dollars It is powdered But I think it is like 2 to 3 lbs and it will last about 2 to 3 wks if you are nursing and bottlefeeding Nurse only when you are home or at night. I was dumb the first time I had a child and over paid for formula with my second I found Parents choice it is the same as the name brands Also Parents choice diapers are 10 dollars a pack and they are better than pampers and huggies it took me until the 3rd baby to figure the diaper one out. But that brand and you will not only save money but you will also be satisfied with the products
You can express breastmilk very successfully and it freezes very well. You shouldn’t think of planning to do anything until you see how things go, make those decisions which are right for you at the time. You may find you love bf or prefer formula. Production of breastmilk is a simple supply and demand, the more you express or feed, the more you will produce. Remember to eat properly, rest properly and if your milk supply is diminished, rest, allow the baby to feed on demand – please go to bed! Breastmilk is best because it carries all the antibodies your baby needs, but don’t get hung up about it, you will instinctivly do what’s right for you.
