Today was our last day at Azimio School. We visited classrooms, sang songs and played games with the students at the school. After lunch we went to the Updendo Children’s Home to bring formula and newborn diapers for the babies, spend time playing on their playground with the toddlers and tour their facilities, marveling at how self-sufficient they are with a working farm and vegetable garden.

Q&A–: Is toddler formula better than regular cow’s milk for baby 1year+?
My son will be one year old end of this month. Today was the first day that I started adding 1-2oz cow’s milk to his formula bottle of 8oz. That’s what the doc recommended to do 7-10 days before his birthday. But just now I got a sample in the mail for Enfagrow toddler formula. I’ve never heard of toddler formula before and wanted to find out from other parents.
I’ll also call my son’s pediatrician tomorrow to see what she recommends.

i think milk is fine. toddler formula just sounds like a way for the formula companies to keep making money off of parents once the babies are off of formula.

I’ve never seen toddler formula, but I would think starting on regular cow milk would be better so he can be become adjusted to the taste and texture. If you keep him on formula longer, he may not want to switch when he’s older and thinking more for himself. Just my opinoin though, I don’t know anyone who’s ever used it.

toddler formula is a scam and usually only used for babies with lactose problems or parents suckered into thinking it’s superior.

Honestly, the only reason they make toddler formula is to get your money after your child’s first birthday. A toddler doesn’t need formula.
The only situation where I can see why someone would buy it is if they had a baby who was a preemie and they were instructed by their doctor to continue formula for longer than 1 year (this happened with my nephew).
I would keep using the same formula you were using to wean…. why introduce something new now when you’re trying to stop formula alltogether?

Sounds like a way to get your money. Be glad he will be coming off the expensive formula soon. Milk should be fine and he should be getting most of his nutrition from solid foods now.

My son is 9 months old and I accidentally picked up the toddler formula the other day. I compared the two (Infant formula and toddler) and I didn’t see to many differences in the ingredients. I think giving the toddler formula every now and then wouldn’t hurt anything. I think they just made it because when kids start to drink and eat other things instead of formula they don’t always get the vitamins and minerals that they need. I think it’s a matter of preference really.

Toddler formula and regular cow’s milk are actually the same cow’s milk…Manufacturers only add up some elements on toddler formulas to make it a little different from regular cow’s milk…Breastmilk is still the best for children as long as it is required for them…

I think toddler formula is fine… my daughter who is 2 is on it. She is in the lower part of her weight range for her age and it helps her to put and keep on weight. I also think that is is a very good transition from infant formula to cows milk. Also the toddler formula has more vitamins in it than cows milk!

I live in France, originally from Australia and this is a big debate for my little one at the moment. In Australia, everybody will tell you to start your baby on cows milk from 1+ and not to feed it any kind of milk but cows milk as skim etc lack certain nutrients. In France, my doctor told me to keep my child on infant formula until age 3 and not to give my daughter cows milk or any other milk as it lacks certain nutrients. I have started my daughter on cows milk and would never offer her infant formula, why do I need to? Solids should be a big part in a toddlers life. Unless they can successfully prove that infant formula has better benefits in the long run, they are just scamming people into keep buying their products.
