my son will be 4 months on the 27th of this month and we do not have a routine, when he’s hungry i feed him and when he’s sleepy i put him to sleep. i dont get how your suppose to get a baby on a schedule. the only problem that i am really facing is how long he sleeps. only after he poops, has a warm bath and a warm bottle will he stay asleep longer then 4 hours, his naps throughout the day are about 1-2 hours long. during the night he wakes up probally about 3-4 times between 8pm and 6 pm but my cousin has a infant around the same age as mine adn she has this scheduling thing down pact, i was just wondering how do you start a schedule

I am a nanny for a 8 week old baby and would like to know where to access useful information regarding a generic daily feeding/napping/playing/changing schedule. Any advice as far as a online or book reference or just through personal useful experience for a 8 week old infant and up.

Q&A–: Can you give an example of your 5 – 6 month old’s daily feeding schedule?
I’ve started cereal and I only feed him cereal at night. He is eating just 1 scoop, which is about a tablespoon before liquid is added. Here is what I’m doing now and want to know what others are giving their infants during the day. Right now we are doing this:

5:30am 6 oz formula
8:30am 6 oz formula
11:30 am 6 oz formula
2:30pm 6 oz formula
5:30pm 1 scoop rice cereal & 5 oz formula
8:30pm 8 oz formula

My doctor said to add veggies to his diet after he understands eating the cereal, but I don’t know when? He’s not a very good eater first thing in the morning, so I’m not sure about trying to add anything at his first feeding.

Help…and please no “you should wait blah, blah, blah” comments, I’m following my doctors lead to start and yes, I could ask him for a plan also, but thought I’d ask here to get some ideas.

Question–: Feeding schedule for 7 month old?
My little guy is turning 7 months old next week. I was wondering how much infant cereal (oatmeal is the favorite) he should be getting (for the iron). I exclusively pump bottles and supplement with formula. He is not a huge eater (a little small for his age) and I want to make sure he is getting enough breastmilk/formula as well as solids.
I’m planning on adding his second meal soon so the schedule would look like:

10-15min breastfeed -5:30am
3-4oz bottle and 2tbs cereal + fruit or veggie- 7:30 AM
5-6 oz bottle -10:30 AM
3-4 oz bottle and protein food(yogurt,meat etc) and fruit or veg 1:30 PM
5-6 oz bottle 4:30 pm
6-8 oz bottle 7:30pm

Of course this is approximate, he eats according to appetite. Should I be adding cereal with his afternoon meal? Or a few tbs by spoon with his evening bottle or would that get him used to eating too much before bed?

！！Good advice :It’s very easy to get sucked into the constant advertising of baby powders, creams, and lotions. But the best baby lotion is plain old olive oil—cheap, natural, and un-perfumed. As for other products, keep it as natural, organic, and fragrance-free as possible.
Question–: Unmarried parents… Infant visitation schedule…?
I have an 11 week old son and his Dad rarely saw him until 3 weeks ago. We have begun doing visitation gradual. He had 4 hours twice a week the first 2 weeks and now has moved to 6 hours twice a week. That is where I plan for it to stay until we get to court or agree to a parenting plan in mediation, etc. My son is breastfed, but I am pumping for Dad so he can feed him during his time. That being said…I can’t pump a lot so Dad having more time would be a challenge as the baby is allergic to milk and soy. Anyway…I am off track…

We do not agree on custody/visitation. He wants 50% as of now…and we will be going to court within the next 6 months. I want a graduated plan that is appropriate for our distance between homes (an hour) and the baby’s age. Dad does not follow his schedule, doesn’t feed him right and basically has the “I’ll do what I want” attitude so it makes his days with Dad hard…I am terrified what would happen if he had more than 6 hours.

What do you think of this schedule – 6 hours twice a week? For anyone who has been through a custody issue with an infant…what did you give Dad before court and what did the judge order after you got to court?

My daughter has trouble falling asleep at night, some nights it’s 10:00pm and some nights it’s 1:00 in the morning. When she does finally fall asleep she usually sleeps 11-12 hours with one feeding is this o.k. or should I make her bedtime a certain time everynight even when she’s having a tough time falling asleep?
