Question: Anyone know what happens to toys when the manufacturer stops producing them and stores pull them?

Does anyone know what happens to the toys on the shelf at places like Wal*Mart or Toy’s R Us when the manufacturer ceases production, or replaces them with a new line, and all of the sudden the old toys, “disappear” from the shelf? I know sometimes they move them to clearance isles, but sometimes they just disappear. Does anyone out there know? Are they sent back to the manufacturer? Are they melted down to make more toys? Are they donated to charity for some kind of tax write-off?

I never really considered what my dogs were putting in their mouths, until my mother pointed out that some of their toys are made in China. Am I worried over nothing? Should we be concerned about what kind of animal toys they are shipping over here? With the bad food and the lead paint, whats else are we not noticing?

He is 5 months and will be left alone for only about 2 hours a day but gets hours of exercise the whole rest of the day. While we are gone he does go outside because we have a “doggy door”, but I feel we should get him some toys something to keep him busy(brain teasers, etc) Thanks!

Question: How to disinfect toys that are contaminated with bat feces?

We were given a lot of larger toys for my daughter. We put them in the attic and at the time didn’t realize we had bats up there. Well now the toys are covered with bat feces. We were going to just throw the toys out but they are so nice and because of the economy we don’t have the money to replace them. How could we disinfect the toys so that they are truly safe for our 14 month old. I was thinking bleach and a hot water spray. And then let them air dry out side. Any thoughts.

Q&A: How come my dog never plays with her toys?

We buy her all kinds of stuff from bones to balls so she won’t be bored. The only thing she plays with are some old bath toys I used to use. The are like 3 years old and I don’t like seeing her play with them. She plays with them every now and then but never her other toys. She only plays with her rawhides. She doesn’t look at those other toys twice. She has this thing for pencils though.
