My mom has green eyes. Both of her parents have maybe brown or green eyes (not sure). I have blue eyes. Would my father have to have blue eyes?

No, this is because of a “recessive gene” look it up on wikipedia or something, they should explain exactly what that means.

No not as long as either one in their blood line has it in their bloodline. Its also possible for 2 white parents to have a black child. Gotta love the things genetics can throw at ya. Also the gene for us having 5 fingers or flanges is recessive as where the gene for 6 fingers is dominant. There’s many different combinations that genetics can take. Do some real research on this topic and I believe you’ll be really surprised at what you’ll find.

yes… as long as the blue eye gene is present in both parents
the parents may both have green eyes but they may both carry the blue eye gene which is masked by the green eye gene

Yes 2 green eyed parents can have a blue-eyed child.
Only if both parents carry a recessive “blue-eye” color allele. Recessive being that the trait can be hidden if there is a more dominant gene that hides it (examples: Brown, & Green eyes are more dominant than Blue eyes). If both parents harbor a recessive blue eye allele it also means that your grandparents also had such an allele.

Its unlikely because the green pigment gene is would be more ’strong’ than the blue one. However, if one of your grandparents has blue eyes your parent could of just carried it and gave it to you.
