Would you buy an electric breast pump on Craigslist in order to save some money?

Only if it is hospital grade or rental grade. Then I would still buy new tubes & bottles(that is what most manufacturers recommend.)
I worked for Babies R us & dealt with the rentals what they did was sold new tube & collection kits for the rental & when it came back in they wiped it down with disinfectant wipes. I highly recommend a Medela Pump that is what I used with my second son it works very well & has very easy care. Medela even sells a kit for second users.

Yes, I sure would. I used a rented one and it was expensive. As long as its clean, why not?

I would not personal others people think that it is fine. If I knew the person then yes but not a stranger. If you end up buying on make sure that you buy all new bottles tubing and parts. btw the only pump the FDA says is safe to resale is the Ameda purely yours pump which I got and hated didnt work well at all. so i bought a Medela and loved it

I personally would not buy a used breast pump. However, if you have no choice, then buy all of the parts new. I would not want to use old parts. In fact, I just bought new bottles and pump parts for my own pump. I did not want to use them, because even though I sterilized them and cleaned the bottles and pieces there was still old milk in them.
I had to pump exclusively because my baby would not take to the breast at all.

I did! And I am sooooo glad I did. I had a hand-me-down pump from my sister that had just been worn out. I purchased a brand new one on craigslist. It was still in the box w/the seals still on … never opened or broken. It’s a Medela and it works great. If you’re purchasing a used one, get a feel for the seller. Find out how often it was used, how old/new it is, why they’re selling, etc. And, of course, if it is used, definitely buy new tubing, etc. for health/safety reasons. Good Luck!

I am borrowing a close friend of mine’s pump. I would not buy a used one on craiglist if it was a last resort I might. Those things are expensive if you have to get one off craigslist go for it just make sure to sterilize it and clean it even if the person says they did so.

I really like Medela breast pumps. I purchased my first one at the hospital in 2008 when my son was born. I loved it! I used it a lot that the strap started to rip. I called Medela and since I still have warranty on the pump…they sent me a brand new one! No questions asked. I’m now using the new pump with my daughter and works great!

I have the backpack. It has storage pockets for my cellphone, keys and even my lunch. It’s great!

I ADORE my Medela Pump In Style. It works very well, I’ve never had a problem with it. You can plug it in to the wall and it has a battery pack so you can pump without an outlet (maybe in the car during long trips). It comes in a discreet backpack so its easy to carry and take with you without the whole world knowing and it has extra pockets for other things you might need.

The Ameda Purely Yours is an excellent pump, as is the Hygeia, although it may be hard to find. The Hygeia has a guarantee and a warrantee. Medela also makes good pumps, but there are a number of different styles.

I liked my Ameda, unlike the Medela’s it’s a closed system and you don’t have to worry about milk entering the tubing and having to clean it. It is as quiet as an electric pump can get. My girlfriends have used Ameda, Medela and Avent. The Ameda came recommended by a nurse friend. The best bet is to compare the ones you want, decide what features are best for you. Not every pump is going to work the same for every mother. I hated the Avent…but loved Ameda. Their customer service is excellent as well.

Its just like the Medela pump, but a lot cheaper.

Hygeia and Ameda are better than Medela for a number of reasons… they are both closed systems so there is no fungus that grows in them and they can be used by many users ( so you can re-sell it). I have the Medela PISA and I can attest to the HUGE condensation issues that they have. I wish I had heard of Hygeia or Ameda.
