Q&A–: How much does a 1-6 month old breastfed baby cost per month (nappies etc)?
I am having a baby in July. I am planning on breastfeeding for the first 6 months. Roughly how much will it cost me per month in nappies for a baby of this age (I am planning on buying huggies/pampers) ? And what will be my other expenses monthly (babywipes, baby lotion, etc.)

A pack of 96 Pampers is . If you buy bigger boxes, you get a cheaper price. A box of 96 lasts me about 2 weeks. The big refill of wipes is . I think I buy one of those every 3 weeks or so…I don’t really keep track.
You don’t use a ton of lotion or shampoo or anything – my 4.5 month old is still on her first bottle of each.

I don’t count the money but I go though one of those small carry packs every week, she’s two months now and needs less but as she’s got bigger there’s less in the packs! Breastfed babies pee A LOT, my little one doesn’t poo that often
I don’t use wipes or lotion, just cotton balls which run out real quick, but you can buy them in mass at baby stores; and a bit of olive oil every now & then.
Wash her everyday with a few squirts of method baby wash, its pricey but there’s still loads left, had it since the day she was born. Use it for body & hair

l reckon my wife is mainly trying to save money l believe nappies should be continued to be used for hygienic purposes for everyone, to avoid stools or urine puddles at random places around house and everywhere baby goes. soiled nappies are immediately changed and genitals cleaned.

well summer is almost over but i dont let me daughter run around with out a diaper just cause i dont want to have pee every where. once she peed on the floor and walked in it and fell i cant remember why she didn’t have a diaper on. but the slipping could be very dangerous so thats another reason i wouldnt do it

It’s important for all babies and toddlers who are still wearing nappies to have some time without a nappy on but only for short times just to give there genitals time to breath without all the padding, but if shes never wearing a nappy then thats not a great thing because of the messes that can occur and the hygene risk.
